Good to get another look at Laurie. Maybe he’ll surprise a few.

I think Laurie has been unfairly judged at AFL so far.

It's hard to get a good read on a player at the top level when they've played more than half of their games as the sub.

Maybe a tag for Neale...as now ready to unleash Oliver and Petracca ??

Just realised we have 100% win rate this year without JVR and 100% loss rate with him

No way will Spargy Pants be dropped.

ANB was our best link player. Now it's Spargy. Not prolific but not wasteful.

I have to say that Fritsch and Spargo are now being gifted matches.

Fritsch missed crucial shots last week. He is defensively very weak. Zero tackles. Zero chasing.

Spargo is below average in most categories. He’s not wasteful because he only kicks it 15 metres. For a small forward, one goal for the year is a very sub standard performance. He’s been very very low on player ratings for weeks. He misses too many tackles.

Brisbane hasn't been the same without Daniher. Losing him has definitely messed with their structure. They aren't scoring much better than they were this time last year comparatively given they were 3-1-5 after 9 rounds. They have scored 100 more points but conceded about the same. They are definitely gettable. They also have the worst % of all top 8 teams.

He was easily our LVP last week and is nowhere near our best 22 right now.

Having said that he'll probably come out and kick 5 now.

How do you quote just part of a post here??

I click the quote icon, enter the quote area of that file, and delete the parts of the person's writing that is irrelevant to my post.

Thanks! It worked !!

Apologies..I tested it by deleting "I".... not that you were irrelevant, but neither was anything else in the post!!!

Much appreciated!!

Indicates the quality of our key forward stocks and that the coaches don’t think there is one good enough to name to start on the field !

Our forward line is a real sad state of affairs

At least he brings elite hair to his game 😝

Seriously though, how do we expect JVR, MJ or Kolt to get good at the level, if they don’t get a decent run in the seniors? Meanwhile the likes of Sparrow, Spargo, Fritsch and even Salem get free passes to the next round.

Bench will most likely be Turner, Petty, Lindsay, Chandler

Sub out of Laurie, Johnson, Howes, Fullarton

My tip would be Laurie.

The fact is we don't have enough depth, or in form players, to fill 22 spots with quality.

At this stage of the year it's clear that the club still thinks we can win and push for finals. That's why the established, proven players remain in the side while kids miss out.

If we lose a few more I really hope we take the youth route and pump games into the like of Koltyn, even if others are perhaps more deserving.

I'm surprised by no omission of Fritta.

I keep getting it wrong with Fritta and Melky in the same team.

I do get the thinking though.

Fritta, Melky and Kozzy most likely scorers, Petty will need a big game too. I assume no AJ ultimately, so Petty to play second ruck as well.

I would assume Turner will stay back.

Hard to know what to expect with this mix.

How is no tackle Fritsch still getting a game? We pick half Fullarton and I don't want to be there Oliver. It is about time Sestan, Adams and K.Brown get a game, as we have nothing to lose.

We are going to get smashed like an Avacado.

Spargo has been gifted games since 2022.

Find me another small forward in the competition that constantly keeps their spot for zero return on the scoreboard.

I'm honestly gobsmacked Fritsch survived this week.

On paper, the currently listed setup must be the shortest forward line EVER

This is my biggest problem with our list, too many leprechauns.

Can’t have Spargo, Laurie, Bowey, Chandler, Sharp in the same side, you just can’t compete with that many undersized players

(Koz is the same size but he’s a level above)

Was it Mark Twain who penned "Lies, Dammed Lies and Statistics"? Had the distinct impression Bayley Fritsch tackled James Sicily, received a free kick for holding the ball and missed a very gettable goal after the half-time siren. In the corresponding game last season Fritta pantsed Sicily, this time around he's doing it to himself.

Jefferson was a passenger and van Rooyen hasn’t looked even remotely close to having an impact at any point this year. The team can not afford to have players learning how to play football in the senior side.

Kade Chandler was on our list for 4 years in the selection revolving door before he matured and was able to really cement his spot in the team. It’s fine for players to not be ready and need time to focus on development. But you don’t play in the ones unless you add something. At the moment these guys aren’t.

Based off VFL form Jefferson should not have been selected.

Happy they have dropped Roo and kept him accountable rather than gifting games.

That’s all well and good @Nasher , but the 4 I listed of Sparrow, Spargo, Fritsch and to a lesser extent Salem have themselves added very little to the team this year.

We’ve gotta start getting senior experience in to the youth to fast track their development.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
