Perfect.

Said he was top of my wish list in the coaching replacement thread a week or so ago.

Bevo needs a new start - he would be 100% perfect for us

Don’t mind it. Very different coaching style; has a hard edge about him and can back foot the media if they come at us. Feel like when one of our players gets poked in the eye from a fend off which isn’t called high, bevo would work it into the press conference post match.

He's already told Tom Morris where to go.... that's enough for me lol

i'm not sold.

the doggies have never finished in the top 4 despite the list they've had including a rolls royce midfield

i would prefer a fresh up and comer

I did wonder how long it'd be before Luke's name was proffered.

I have a feeling Caro is just joining dots here, rather than leading with any real insight.

I wouldn't be against Luke taking the role, although as @BDA says, I'd be wary given Luke has never made the top 4. He's made two GFs though, which makes him probably the greatest Bulldogs coach ever.

Yeah he's definitely not a robot and always fine his press conference fascinating at times.

I also like that he's set a pretty hard stance on JUH behaviour unlike Goody who turned a blind eye to Oliver.

JUH was a free hit for the Bulldogs though, got a number one pick for a bag of crisps, and Lachie Hunter anyone...

Some might find this weird but much like my comment about how tragedy always finds Melbourne because it doesn't have a home, the Bulldogs have that underdog "woe is me" mentally drilled into the walls at Whitten Oval. They just aren't meant to be perennial contenders. I'm probably too idealistic but I genuinely think it plays a role. He got them to two Grand Finals, AND a flag from 7th against a very good Sydney team. He also got close to a second flag from outside the top 4 (close as in, made it to within a quarter and a half...).

@Superunknown Like how JUH isn’t playing and Hunter was banished prior to coming to us?

Or McRae being stuck in the twos despite being on massive coin?

Bevo is the Yin to Goody’s Yang

It’s an interesting situation. I like Bevo, he is one of Northey’s Boys. So i am sure he would like to come home.

Is he tough enough, we need a Coach who demands and gives out Respect

This Club cannot have another Coach who is everyone’s mate…

The Football Club must be an elite Workplace, that doesn’t mean you cannot have Fun, and i have no Problem if the new Coach “loves” his boys, but there must be a divide

“You are hear to work”….

Stripped him off the vice captain and traded him out.

On JUH, the pull would have been there to play him. On talent alone he's right up there if not better then Sam Darcy, but he's held his nerve and held a strong stance.

Unlike Goody, he willing to pull punches regardless of who it is.

He Missed finals after winning a flag

The ‘Is Bevo the right guy’ thread would have been immense if he did that with us

This whole debate about Goodwin being a soft coach and us needing someone tougher on players, is Deja vu from the Dean Bailey/Mark Neeld fiasco. Look how that turned out.

At least Bevo has a proven track record though.

Not sold on Bevo.

Haven’t watched that show in years or anything 7 related and boy was it a shock to see that Hutchy has become a whole lotta man.

And I still can’t stand Caro…

What a horrible line up that show looks like, 3 of the most repugnant afl people on the one panel.

If he wins us a flag I don’t care if we miss finals

Great summary SW.

You won't meet a better people manager and a great bloke to boot.

He'll chat with any supporter / member anytime anywhere and treat them like they're as important as any other person in the club.

Very humble guy but always looking for the edge over oppo and lookimg to get the best and expecting it from every player on the list.

And there's no way he'd be allowing the forward crud we've seen in the last 2.5 seasons to continue on unsolved imv and just keep crashing & bashing on in hope.

Big yes from me.

For Me it’s more about being kind rather than nice

There’s a big difference

29th July, 2013, Peter Jackson appeared on "On the Couch".

Interview is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu0NIDU-aC0

Jackson was one of, if not the best appointment the club has had this century.

He stated on the program, that at times "the club's gone back to too many people who have got red and blue...I think sometimes we don't have a propensity in this club to bring in the best from outside".

He then spruiked the culture and winning environments at clubs like Sydney and Geelong.

After that interview he went on to appoint a number of people within the football department from those cultures. Paul Roos, George Stone, Ben Mathews, Brett Allison, Brendan McCartney, Matthew Egan and Shannon Byrnes. Industry best appointments.

My worry is that we are now moving away from appointing the best, and reverting to this propensity of former MFC people.

Brad Green - President

Nathan Jones - Midfield coach

Mark Jamar - Ruck coach

Alastair Nicholson - rumoured as next CEO

Steven Smith - rumoured as next President

Luke Beveridge - rumoured as possible next coach

These people may very well be the best options, and that it's just a coincidence that they have had a MFC involvement before,I don't know from afar. But I just hope we are not reverting back to what we were before Jackson. To be a high quality and successful club, you need the best people in the industry, and I hope we are going after them regardless of whether they have red and blue in them or not.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
