Turner shouldn't have been dropped

Fullo for JVR a week late but anyways. We at least get to see if he can bring something alhough the bye at Casey came at a shiiite time for Fullo who had some form prior to that.

Dunno what to make of Kolt for Fritta. Thought he might need a week or two at Casey to find his match fitness and i saw him as coming in (potentially) for Vines. Fritta actually showed a bit in the last two matches and looking like he might have turned the corner.

Brown dog for Spargo?

Does this at least send a bit of a signal to the senior regulars that no one is safe? Something that should've been happening from mid 2024 onwards imv.

I’d have thought it’s Turner for JVR, Fullarton for Fritsch and Tholstrup for Henderson.

This site is insufferable

Goody bagged for not making a statement, not dropping Fritsch, not promoting Fullarton etc

he does all this and still the whinging

it’s too late, not the right time

all I hear is WWWAAAAAAAAAA

I don't pretend to know better than the FD, but would have liked to have seen;

JvR not to be punished after being set up for failure with selection last week,

Jefferson in,

Tholstrup to return via vfl after a long lay off with injury,

Sharp out with Sparrow on cusp of demotion as well.

I love melksham and the delivery he provides, but think we need to move forward from a 33yr old low possesion player that shouldn't be part of our plans from next year onwards. Provides much needed leadership though so perhaps is required.

Fritsch looked better last week so bit surprised by his dropping but not necessarily unhappy with it.

Looking forward to the imminent return of McVee if all goes well at VFL level.

If we are serious without being ridiculous JVR and Sparrow should be ommitted as well as one of Spargo/Henderson and one of Fritsch/Melksham.

Well played

Aside from Sparrow you nailed it

Just to be clear, I have no issue with Fullarton getting picked, but it should have happened last week. I would have had no issue with Fritsch being dropped, but it’s come after (mild) improvement.

We’ve been burned by bringing guys back off long injuries without VFL game time already but we’re doing it again with Tholstrup.

Meanwhile Sharp, Spargo, Melksham and Sparrow stay in.

Real clown show on here. Let the cobblers cobble.

Ok cool! Don’t mind it. Fascinated to see if there’s more leading towards the ball carrier

Van Rooyen and Fritsch out. Here we go boys and girls. Goody's gettin' serious.

In: Fullarton, Tholstrup, Turner

Out: Fritsch, Henderson, JVR (all dropped)

My initial thought: WTF are we doing

Tholstrup straight in is insanity

Get it, but we can’t drop all our non performers at the same time

Well, they changed it up. Dropped underperformed players. To be applauded really.

Inclusions ... hmm.

What it says really is we're stuffed so what hell.

As such that's OK as that'd tge reality of where we are. Going a bit left field to see if we can get some traction. .... even better.

I'm happy to mix it up. Quietly impressed we've actually done SOMETHING.

We bemoaned many things... almostvas though someone listened. I've now a little genuine curiosity about how we go on Sat now.

Could be Goody's last ever team changes

The gutsy move would have been to drop Viney. Once our pressure engine, this season his tackle count per game is less than half his career average.

Some real question marks on the selections. Glad he's finally making some changes, but Fritta did show a bit more in the last 2 weeks. JVR and Hendo i agree with though.

Next week id be putting - as others have said - the midfielders on watch especially Rivers and Viney.

Lets hope so!

Tholstrup sub surely? Crazy. Need to drop Viney, offers nothing

I think the sub has to come from the bench, which is Oliver, Melksham, Rivers, Sharp and Sparrow.

Jeff White dissected many Dees plays from last weeks game on X. He did a good job on that.

He did not bag players etc but it was obvious that we are NOT playing 'team smart' football.

Players bombing, not making position, not backing up, Tracc calling for obvious 'kick it out in front' ignored and bombed etc.

Team smart footy in the AFL is above the shoulders.

Individual form and confidence is different to Team form and confidence.

It can be fixed but it needs some strong leadership.

Looks like the Dees should do their own dissection of 'smart' and 'not so smart' team plays each week. Record the stats and reward or highlight players who play 'team smart' footy.

Those who rack up excess 'not so team smart' actions should have their position in the team reviewed.

We will not win until we start playing 'team smart' footy.

Yeah, I think we actually largely agree on all this. I also think dropping 3 forwards but no mids in one week is unhelpful when a significant portion of our problem is in the midfield.

It has been a mostly a forward problem prior to this season and a large part of 2024 though Titan. Needed to sort all this over the last few seasons including systems / method.

We have all seen the fall out of a dysfunctional under-performing forward line. Maybe that fallout also (finally) got to the rest of the playing group as well and has killed off moral / incentive / hope a fair bit.

Change is a good thing especially when same old same old has proven to be a complete failure.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
