No different to Carlscum

May they both rot…

How does Schultz win medal.

The commentators are laughing.

At least 6 better players on the ground, if not more.

Pendles for example was more influential, with many more possessions.

Something horrible about watching people have a genuine mental implosion.

Carlton players became so frightened that it kicked them out of even the most basic routines. You can see the cogs jam in their head as they make the decision 'I'm convinced that what I normally do isn't going to work, so I will do something else even though it never works at all in any circumstance'.

45 minutes of panic. They only calmed down when there was nothing left to lose.

The question is.who will be sacked first Voss or Goodwin??

Who do you think is poachable?

Voss will be gone first. There's nothing wrong at Carlton which can't be traced to the coaching, and Voss doesn't have any proverbial credits in the bank.

Poachable, based on 'what you see is what you get' rather than any fantasies.

Walsh seems to be stagnating at Carlton and is a restricted free agent for 2026. Currently still only 24yr 9 months. On his current form he is 'just another midfielder', but even as that he could be a useful winger/midfield utility. A return to his best form would be something extra.

Kemp was shopped around by Carlton last season (which I hear is the ultimate sin), is a tick under 24yrs, a complex but interesting prospect who had a slow start to his career due to injury, and is out of contract this season. As a tallish (192cm) swingman he would likely have a role. No need to fantasise about him suddenly becoming much better, just filling a role.

Fun fact - Melbourne could make no changes to its team and just play the exact players we already have out there for another two years and it would still be a younger team than Collingwood fielded tonight.

Oddly enough their only player with less than 50 games experience, Ned Long, is already 22.

What is even more satisfying is that apparently Carlton traded their first round pick next year to, of all teams, Hawthorn!

Goodwin + Voss could swap jobs 🤓

Like Parkin + Walls did in the 80s. (Or at least I think it was in the 80s.)

No thankyou.

Also, it was the 90's.

In a notable AFL coaching switch, Robert Walls replaced David Parkin as coach of Carlton in 1986, while Parkin took over at Fitzroy in a direct swap.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Parkin's Tenure at Carlton:

David Parkin coached Carlton for several years, including a period of success, but eventually faced a downturn in form.

  • Walls Takes Over:

After Carlton endured three consecutive unsuccessful finals campaigns under Parkin, Robert Walls took over as coach in 1986.

  • Parkin's Move to Fitzroy:

Coincidentally, Parkin then became the coach of Fitzroy, creating a direct swap with Walls.

  • Parkin's Return to Carlton

Parkin returned to coach Carlton from 1991 until 2000.

walsh looks a shadow of his former self, but you can bet he'll still command a pretty penny as a former #1 pick and ostensibly having credits in the bank as a very good player...three years ago

kemp is no better than howes imo - very vanilla

Interesting watching Walsh tonight.

He's running to the ball but not through the ball if that makes sense.

He's hesitating...

His confidence is down.

Interesting final score, neither team managing double figures and Magpies winning with only 8 majors.

Also Magpie inaccuracy, 8 15. Perhaps it's not just us but something to do with playing fast and furious football?

That's extremely concerning. I hope the mcc are having discussions with the head of security today. Not sure how that could be missed on the scanner

I expect from now on we’re going back to long waits when going through security, with full bag searches etc.

What was a much faster system of security screening has had a major fail.

I’m guessing they were Carlton supporters, because a) it’s a club for crims, b) they started getting agitated in the second half.

I know the Collingwood fanbase has its fair share of crims, but they tend to be lower level crimes, consistent with lower IQs. To get loaded guns past security requires a level of planning and execution way beyond their skill set.

This is truly shocking. How did Alan Didak not get them into the members?

I know $12 for a plastic cup of beer is a ripoff, but guns…damn!

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
