People won't like it cause it's Cornes saying it but I think there's a really valid point made about how the senior players gained way too much power within the club and it's probably one of the biggest reasons Goodwin needed to go.

No i agree with him as well.

Not sure if you can read much into this but didn’t see a post by Trac on May 250 on his social media Insta, maybe clutching at nothing but I’d say May wouldn’t be he’s favourite… if either trac or Oliver want out just do it as we need committed players though they should take a pay cut and not burden the club!

You’d be correct. The article basically says what Chaplin said in his presser yesterday after the game.

Neither will be at the club in 26, i'm predicting Tracc to Carlton and Clarry, to the Cattery!

I have a gut feeling its 50/50

A lot, not just these two but possibly the thinking of others will revolve around the make-up of the New Coaches and FD.

I don't see this as a bad thing.

I doubt either will give us a top ten pick

Nor do I.

Very much thinking if either or both leave we'll get semi dudded.

Personally I think the club is at a major crossroad. We not only need to determine what the FD will look like. We also need to determine what the list will be like.

Our list imo is over rated. This because we have a few nqr types that struggle to perform better than average at AFL level. We have some coming to the end of careers...others just underperforming.

We just have to make the best deals possible in the day and move forward. Pointless trying to develop a finals capable team whilst lingering in the memories of what was. It v was... it isn't now.

Time for reinvention/reinvigoration .

Not everyone is going to be happy.

Yes, look at the players weve lost since premiership, Jackson, Brayshaw, Ben Brown, ANB . Then we have the fading stars which feels so similiar to the late sixties .

I feel for the young kids who see them as the premiership heroes they were.

May Lever Salem

Then we have Trac- playing for money, csnt blame him and hoping for success and fame at a bigger club

Then we have Oliver- playing for money and fighting demons.

I know all players play for money but you get the feeling they only stayed because it was easy getting the best deal from us in an easy negotiotion the managers could not sign quick enough.

Honestly if they both want to go then let them. No use having players that are not invested. Let them dump kick the footy somewhere else.

I'd rather a better pick in 2026 rather than a pick this year in a poor draft

Carlton 2026 1st for Tracc, Cats 2026 1st for Oliver. We pay 30% of contract, but 0% if they are on-traded in the future

Sweep the broom

I think we could get a top 10 pick for Trac in this years (poor) draft. If he want's out, could he go to Hawthorn? They have Carlton's 1st.

I don't really think you could say Oliver is not invested. He tries his guts

out week after week. Can't say the same with Trac who is playing in bursts. Love them both though and hate the thought of them playing AGAINST us.

David King calls Trac the million dollar slaughterman and you can't really argue with him. His kick damage rating is regularly 30th on the ground each week.

I think the only way out of this for Trac is to change his body shape and become an elite runner like a Bailey Smith type. I just can't see him changing his kicking style with that huge ball drop he has. Whether that happens with us or someone else I guess we'll see.

TRac has ben playing in bursts his whole career nothing new here

There is definitely something there in truth.

I must admit he's one of the very few players i struggle with in terms of 'worth to team" and where he's at.

I'm gradually coming down on the idea that for a decent( but not what most would want ) trade/pick I think we ought to let him carry on wherever he wants. He can as has been a very capable/ ne brilliant player, but as you suggest, if we're honest, in bursts. The level he attains now is not what it was pre-Moore. Personally I have my doubts it will be again. As mercurial as he can be there is I note a very self-centred side too on the field. He can be quite good at burning fellow Dees and simultaneously get niggled when he's not forwarded the ball ( to where he wanted )

I know a fellow Dlander and good friend does this .. watch a game but especially focus on a couple of players and just watch without any ( or little as possible) bias. Just watch and evaluate, in a clinical fashion. Can be quite eye opening.

If we're portraying Tracc as the GF player etc he was and expecting that now I believe that's unfair to him but also to ourselves as he ( and he's far from alone ) has slipped a tad.

There was the raw Tracc.. lets call him Tracc ver 1.o Then the evolved super player, 👌 Tracc ver 2.o

We're now in the era of ver 3.o. Longer in tooth, slower of foot and dare I suggest conflicted of mind. I see a very frustrated player at times. Is this purely borne of unsatisfactory results of himself as he would rather be better, more effective ( but Moore affected ) ?? Is he annoyed that the team he was part of, a successful team, has fallen off the perch ? Would he rather be somewhere else ? Doing something different ??

I think only part of the Tracc dilemma is physical. A lot of Tracc ( as could be said of any i suppose )is between the ears.

I wonder, truly, what's actually best for Tracc, for us ?? Stay or Go ?

If we are serious about reinventing the list,, well moving it from what was to a new look list playing a different game under different mentors then is there a place, indeed a reason to retain Christian ?(same question applies to a handful if we're frank )

Getting players ( better ones ) is only going to get harder as Tassie enters.... and then sure as 💩 team20.. so cast back to Giants and Suns coming in. Might it just be prudent to start remoulding the list now and if so allow wantaways to do just that and try and get the best we can whilst we can.

Id probably not enjoy seeing Tracc run around for another. Id get over it.

You won't always get perceived value, but its what you get and you can move on.

Club needs to have a proper discussion and a serious think.

I've just seen the vision (over on the Brad Green thread) of Trac in the Dogs game, accompanying Hodge's 'body language' commentary.

I do find it hard to see it as other than damning.

CP5's disposal on Saturday was awful

I think he's hit his ceiling

Make a deal and run

As for Clayton? I think a new coach will bring out the best in him

I 100% agree but we know with the dees we'll get a pack of chips and Oliver will suddenly find a target.

Trading players to their club of choice needs to be stopped by the AFL, it's clearly not in the equity model pushed by the AFL.

Unless of coarse they mean equity as in EPL equity and it's all about cash

The question is...

Ours or another's??

Sadly I suspect that ceiling was prior to Moore.

Currently very much off that mark.

Think best we all just 🤝 with #5 and move on.

We'll neither get a Bag of Crisps nor a Fillet Mignon... might have to settle for a Qtr Lber Meal.

Any which way the eos sit down needs to be an honest convo.

Im thinking there's phone calls already happening in the background.

Petracca is 4kg overweight and below average kicker. If we could get off his money, I would let him go.

Not sure that's the case. If memory serves he was in the leading pack in last year's Brownlow prior to his season ending injury

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
