Is there any danger we could just have an uneventful off season? maybe we bring in 1-2 players, maybe we trade someone, no huge shots, no paying guys salary to play elsewhere

We did that for 2 years after ‘21 and look where we ended up.

Oh well if nothing else Flanders was quoted in the clip as saying he has a good relationship with King.

Better than nothing.

Which means get frigging fit.

Look at Geelongs midfield group who he has had the luxury of coaching.

All their midfield are players that can transition inside and outside. Even Danger is able to play more forward then mid.

Oliver only knows one position and thats it. On the outside he gets exposed big time on the transition and refuses to work back defensively.

Sometimes the best decision is the hardest one to make.

I dont enjoy the slander Clarry and Christian have gotten by some, and ill be the first to defend them against rival fans or the media.

Whatever happens, If they're are in red and blue next year, let's get behind them.

Wow he speaks well and is very direct

So we haven't told Clarry to leave, we've told him to get with the program or else. Hopefully after cooling down on holidays he does just that. I don't mind Clarry as a part time fwd either, solid mark.

Clearly we want Trac to stay

I think the club have been fantastic since the Goody decision.

Finally had the balls for change and to get rid of ego's, the ones that have wanted out and the toxicity and the $ that could be used on better output vs $.

Still there are many who are kicking the club whenever they can.

What differently would you like to have been done? We are organising a home base, we are finally selling the bad eggs. We have some good young players.

Be pessimistic if you like but I applaud what the club is doing this off-season.

A man on a mission, the tail was wagging the head not anymore! King is looking long term, If Oliver or any other player is selfless they will do what the coach asks them to do. Yeah sad end our premiership players still young but it looks like this should have been done 2 years ago

If you took the players on our list most responsible for the poor conversion inside 50 due to long, aimless bombs or rushing rather than making good decisions.

One of them met with Dimma on the Gold Coast today and the other is on the way out now.

I think by virtue of that alone we should see a difference. when the guys kicking it inside 50 aren't great kicks or decision makers we can't be surprised when our conversion is bad.

Of all the chaos the one that actually annoys me the most is losing McVee. He’s the future, he can read the play, he’s quick and he’s an above average kick. Oliver on the other hand, is unfit, a problem child but we’d all love him to be the 2026 redemption story but that’s very likely the AFL equivalent of a Tatts ticket. Petracca, well enough has been said there. King’s either a bull in a China shop or our next great coach, I’ve no idea which. I really hope the club knows what it’s doing because whilst I’m all for change it needs structure around it.

That's what Kingy was saying on SEN this morning about our forward entries. At the end of the day it comes back to to ball movement (which we have been bad at) and the way we put speed on the ball.

Putting speed on the ball doesnt mean a quick dump kick inside our front half.

I love how quickly we are coming out with the balanced statement to counter the hysterical headline the 'journos' run with. Fantastic to see

And that's not going to change, he is what he is.

Agree, 'adapt to how I want the game played' tells me he is a serious operator who will demand the respect of the players. If players aren't committed or can't adjust to his game plan, they are asked to explore their options. I've liked his few appearances in the media so far, clear and direct much like Chris Scott.

Bit sad today. So our generational talent are no more. Where are the future stars coming from, especially with no draft capital, no incoming trades and Tas draft in two years.

Lamgford, Windsor, Lindsay, Disco, Tholstrup, Kalani White...and probaby some of the 3 first rounders we will end up with fro trading Tracc, Clarry, May, Spargo and McVee...we will package all our picks and move up in the draft, as we have every year. Trust that we nail the draft again

Hard to tell from a journo tweet, but I too took that to mean get fit, slim down, learn how to do some outside work. Not too much to ask?

I didn't read it that he was told he wouldnt be a Melbourne players any more. However, we don't know what was said, neither does McXander

Oliver should be adult enough to understand that the game changes and midfielders need to develop their game to suit what the team requires.

Interesting the MFC website has a specific article about Oliver’s interview, yet only talks about CP along with May and McVee in an article referring to King’s interview on SEN.

I’m reading this as MFC want to keep CP but are happy for Clarry to look elsewhere.

I reckon CP stays and Clarry is leaving.

Also backs up Guerra’s comment about not getting sucked in by the journos.

Oliver unfit? Rubbish.

McClure is one of yours, No. 31. But at least he’s not like that Morris grub who claims to be a Dees diehard yet seems to do everything possible to bring us asunder.

Well he claims to be a Bagger but I don't know many Carlton supporters who would shout him a beer 😁 Some rumours existed that he was leak source when he worked briefly at Princes Park some years back. Not sure if true or not but he certainly is eager to crack a headline ... that may or may not accord with reality ...

Look at his run and carry in 2021 and then in 2025. He's heavier, slower and blows up after each chase

Regardless of his past issues, now should be the time for him to have a massive preseason to get fitter than he ever has so that he can do what King requires of him

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
