I have no problem with the club looking to move clarry. His output v his salary are poles apart.

But paying 700k is bonkers and makes no sense to me.

And I reckon we should have let clarry know sooner than this week.

Yeh its a bit bonkers, but i think timing aligns with King officially starting tho

what are we actually doing? I’m becoming concerned. King sold the MFC a vision. That included that the list should be competing in September. In a week we apparently have May, Clarry, McVee, Tracc all out the door. We are linked with nobody. Flanders..who we look to be bridesmaid to…Miochek, who is coming in to top up his retirement fund. The draft is as shallow as it has ever been. Are we replacing these blokes with a couple of Koltyn Tholstrup types? If so, we are heading a long way back. Sure, there is other talent on the list. Barring the captain, none are of the calibre of those leaving. Happy to wait and see what unfolds next week, but right now it smells of a fire sale

Clarry is a soft target, for the media, and for some at the club to lay blame on.

If for the third year in a row we publicly try to throw him in the bin, then we better just do it already.

To keep toying and embarrassing him like that is a pathetic way to handle a champion player.

I hope the club knows what they are doing, because history suggest that they have NFI

Blow the place up Kingy and reset again.

Yes, I personally don’t think we will be able to offload Oliver, but telling him now he is going to be challenging Woey for a HBF role (just postulating) in October is great.

He won’t be surprised when it happens and it gives certainty to a Rivers or a Laurie or whoever that there are minutes there for you in a midfield that hasn’t changed in 6 years.

Just out of curiosity if he stayed at the club and accepted his new role, not as an inside mid, what would the new role be?

(And don't say Casey). Just can't see any other realistic positions on the ground for him.

I saw Clarry at the cafe before, he gave me a big hug and we talked about his contract and yep he’s said he’s to explore his options

Oliver is not the victim

Waiting for something from the club….

Back to work, I’ll check in after 4pm and have 27 pages to catch up on.

Remember when Guerra said that Clarry and Trac were in Melbournes best team... good times.

I want a club full of invested players, who are a tight group, all working their butts off for team success. Whether that translates to wins next year to me is irrelevant.

I want an attacking style of gameplan that brings joy to players and supporters.

I’m sick of player run agendas.

That speaks volumes. We want him out.

The way this club goes about things, both on and off the field, just beggars belief at times.

I'm not convinced we are capable of being a serious football club. Why is this stuff playing out in the media in almost real time?

Agree. Chaos. Contradiction. Confusion.

more leaks. Leaks. Leaks. Leaks. Has Tom Morris got our offices bugged

blow the place up … we took nearly 7 years for Roos and Jackson and JT to build the list. Now we are self destruct mode and

in a low quality draft, the Dees are pushing to off load players and potentially get picks where they get pushed back

salary cap issues wtf we have cleared the decks and added zero players in the last 3 years of any SC substance

memories here of clearing the decks and pushing out popular players like James McDonald. It took us years to recover and be competitive.

our membership numbers are in the toilet and going backwards as others push up !!?! wtf this won’t help

Tim Lamb has failed across 3 x years of trading. Only saved by JT drafting

remember Mark Neeld. Talked tough. Was the “best assistant going around”. We will break eggs he said too. And he lasted 18 months.

without Trac and Clarry, we will be bottom 3 next year. Only Tigers and Eagles to battle with

Ok I’m frustrated and angry and gutted by our fuccccj ups!!!

It’s a mess

King has come in and delivered his message

We’re a football club not a baby sitting service. Clarry is a grown man who has made some terrible decisions, mental health or not. I’ve little sympathy for him.

That said he was showing some signs of improvement towards the end of the season so maybe he might turn it around. King has different ideas by the looks of it

Even Clarry will admit that he has no one to blame but himself for past year issues. Who else rocks up to preseason camp with coral cuts all over your feet (media supported at time)?

Question is would he have pushed the envelope if he was a fringe player?

Might be time to turn that Grand Final Guarantee off.

Did I say he was a victim?

Does he deserve to be toyed with for 3 years in a row?

He had an offer from Geelong last year, and he wanted to go, and the club said no.

He never wanted to leave, we keep pushing him out, then dragging him back in. That is a poor way to handle someone, anyone, let alone a 4 time B&F winner.

Oliver just posted a pic of himself in a Casey jumper 😂😂😂

Pretty obvious that the vision King sold the club on did not include Oliver.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
