6 Bowey - classy all-round performance.

5 Langford - looks the real deal.

4 Chandler - busy all day.

3-2-1 Take your pick from the rabble.

Very slim pickings

6: Langford
5: Bowey
4: Langdon
3: Rivers
2: Gawn
1: Sharp

  1. Langdon

    1. Langford

      1. Chandler

        1. Bowey

          1. Sharp

            1. Henderson

  1. Bowey. I reckon the margin would have been much more without his effort today.

  1. Langford. Amid all the horror of today, he was very, very good.

  1. Langdon - pity his disposal was so poor

  1. Sharp. Getting better each game.

  1. Chandler.

  1. Oliver - horrendous skills and decision making but one of the few who ran and tried all day.

Oliver were you watching the 21 grand final..

I understand your amazement, because his disposal and decision making was so ordinary, but he ran and tried better than most today.

He gave up at times, but I have said this for a long now. Oliver has the best below-the-need ball control since Williams, but he is a shocking kick, lacks football decision-making abilities and as the game gets quicker, like Viney, are liabilities to a team.

6 - Bowey

5 - Gawn

4 - Langdon

3 - Oliver

2 - Langford

1 - Rivers for his 9 marks

Jeezuz Matt Rowell really took us apart in the midfield today.

6 Bowey

5 Langford

4 Langdon

3 Oliver

2 T MacDonald

1 Sharp

6 Langford

5 Bowey

4 Langdon

  1. Clarry for having a go

    1. Langdon

      1. Langford

Sadly, contributing my ‘two bob’s worth’ to this thread is becoming harder, and harder by the week. Such a bloody shame, especially after a pre-season that had me brim full of confidence ……… but anyway, here goes:

6 - Bowey: stood up, where most of his teammates failed. Showed loads of courage, awareness and anticipation, and used the ball very well under pressure.

5 - Langdon: ran all day, put his head over it, and won plenty of hard ball. Might have challenged Bowser for our best if he hadn’t given up possession so often by ‘bombing away’.

4 - Langford: showed plenty to like in his first full game. Great footy IQ and skill beyond his youth. Lots to build on!

  1. Chandler: great work ethic, and a very solid performance following last week’s best ever game.

  1. Gawn - probably broke even with a very good ruckman.

  1. Oliver - never gave up, and fumbled and bumbled his way to a not particularly productive high(ish) possession count.

Suns destroyed us. Embarrassing skill errors. Easy soft 15 metres passes then turnovers. Dees very poor in the midfield especially. At the clearance and in contested footy. Trac and Clarry and JV7 looked 2nd rate. Rowell and Anderson just ran away from them.

Votes ?

6- Bowey

5- Langford

4- Langdon

3- Sharp

… that’s enough

Good work, DOF. I concur.

  • POSTGAME: Hawthorn

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
