Given the awful year we had last year I understand why everyone is upset at our loss to North. But a little perspective would be great. Firstly, North have a team of guns and they played very well. Secondly, Gold Coast are also a good side. Given how even the competition is, penciling in wins is not something you can do these days. Just look at what happened with Carlton in round 1 and Geelong in round 2. The success of GWS in 2023 and Hawthorn last year shows that you can start a season badly and come home with a bang. Goody explained at the start of the season that there may be teething issues with the changes they are trying to make in terms of a game plan. So the loss last week shouldn't be a surprise. I think it would serve us all well to take a step back and save the catastrophic thinking . . .

. . . until at least the 10 minute mark of the first quarter.

I like the ins.

Ringing back aome quality experience which we desperately need.

Baffled that Sharp gets another go.

Dees WILL WIN by 17 points!

  • Our home ground

  • Suns not 'match fit' - no games played this season; the round 1 training/practice game vs WCE doesn't count.

  • Backs-to-the-wall demons will come out fighting like rnd 23, 2024

Stage set for a mighty come back by our beloved demons!

so we've gone from a trio of tall forwards in jvr / jefferson / turner to...one?

Two of Dland's best posters.

The best thing about Saturdays game is I'm out all day and will not see 1 second of it.

If we win I'll watch a replay Sunday morning, if we lose then I've not had an afternoon of frustration :)

I also like the ins this week bad luck for Spargs but thought he was lucky to get a call up last week, Disco and Howes just didn’t get involved enough (wake up boys) and Woey lacked awareness and skill, bit sad i really want him to succeed. Langford should have played last week, he is quality and you just know he will be a great player given the opportunity.

I am looking forward to seeing the team run out tomorrow we are all going to give the boys some support and to be honest I really love rocking up to the G with my daughters and two grandkids. I have always loved watching the young brigade the atmosphere having the Demon Army revving up the players and the skittish crowd, we have a boisterous group around us who get right into it particularly when we scent a win.😁

I do think there is something in Gold Coast’s on/off start to the year.

One game, then straight into a bye, doesn’t sound like ideal match fitness prep to me.

In June I generally am wary of playing a side coming off a bye, but this week it should work in our favour, albeit we do have a 6-day break.

Which bay is that lot in DZ? Do they have their own merch? I reckon there might be a few extras this week.

P.S. Apologies for the neon green so early in the morning. I'm blaming Andy & his new fandangled update (which, mind you, is pretty bloody spiffy eh).

I think the inclusion of Melksham is all about assisting the forwards on field (And we all know they need it) We will look better with two generals down back with May and Melksham up forward. My question is why the hell is Langdon in the middle?

I'm not even close to believing we will win, but I'm ok. I'll be having a fun day. I'll try and check scores when I can.

I'm feeling 50-50. Hopefully we can see some development in the gameplan.

I only saw the 2nd half of Casey. Mentha looked pretty tasty in patches. Hopefully he can build the tank / form and pressure for that spot over the next month or so?

So the interchange is Chin, Tmac, Langford, Billing’s & Melk. Who’s sub?

Obviously Chandlers in

Surely it’s not Lego again. He’s in

We need all the class, forward craft, leadership & goal nous up forward so Melksham’s in the 22 for me

Billings? Meh. Does nothing but slow down our ball movement but will probably somehow find his way in🤮

Which leaves us with Tmac - With Lever, May & Petty locked in down back, cant see how Tom makes the 22.

Maybe sub’s in for AJ late in the 3rd if he’s not impacting? Maybe comes in for Lever if he’s ankle blows up, then possibly push Petty forward?

Thoughts?

I'd say save it till mid way through the season. You might find its great for your mental health.

Of the published forward line there are only 2 players from the 21 GF side. It says a lot about why we are struggling.

Well... testing testing 123

I sense as much reason as any to include Milky is to field someone who actually knows wtf he's doing !! We're not abundant in this.

This team reeks of desperation for a number of reasons

1 Rushing Melksham back after zero match practice, hope his hammy doesn't ping early

2 Disco Rushed back last week on ZERO form and now gets dropped, why did he play in the first place and ditto Spargo

3 Howes should have been dropped after round 1 but was retained on what???? Now axed

4 Johnson over Campbell??? Not in my team

5 Woey unfortunately dropped but not ready and I doubt he ever will.

6 Langdon back to the wing and Rivers on a HBF MUST BE the moves but both need to lift

7 If Bailey Fritsch fails to fire then it MUST mean a run of games at Slithera Central. His half arrrrrsed efforts cannot be accepted any longer

8 Great to see Bison get a game and needs a full one

9 ALSO on notice Salem, Petty (Beaten last week) and Roo

10 I hope May is right to go and ditto Lever

Finally, if we lose this coach will be right under the blowtorch ( if he is not already)

This game will determine our season.

Being optimistic i can see us winning but then i can see us leading all game only to lose at the death.

Is Bailey Laurie injured. Strange list / player management to have a guy hooked from the Casey game last week at half time and rushed to the MCG as an emergency and this week not even in the squad it would seem Billings takes his place. And we extended his contract….. why?????

Great to see Mentha in the squad and hopefully Langford gets a start this week.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
