Potentially horrible result for AMW. Absolute shame as he was looking in ripping form for R1.

Fingers crossed it’s a more fortuitous result for the young man.

Is Johnson playing?  Surely he should be the relief ruck.

yep has been as good as campbell in one qtr, very impressive

AMW looks like the dreaded knee. Fingers crossed. Geez I hope we don’t become the ‘injury ridden team’ this year.

That’s absolutely rotten luck for Andy. Hopefully nothing serious 😢

And a day after list changes! Stupid stupid rule

There's a reason the NFL has banned the hip drop tackle - very annoying to see it pulled out with a couple of minutes to go in a match sim.

Possibly an MCL? He was holding the inside of the knee.

Yeah that’s what I thought. Which is consistent with that type of tackle where they are dragged as trying to turn.

On the tv coverage it looked like he pointed more to the inside of his knee rather than the outside. (Which would be a good sign if it was a medial not an acl)

Harry Sharp and Langford certainties to debut in R1 the takeaway from today

Aidan Johnson very good in his one quarter

Teams have been doing it for several years now. There have been several knees courtesy of this dangerous tackle.

Would think Lindsay is a certainty too. He is all class.

That was my suspicion, often hurts more than acl. Hoping for the best

Is there any live coverage of the Casey game this afternoon?

Woooow!!! They’ll be hangin’ from the rafters.

He was like a dumb extra. It was always Skull Murphy who applied the sleeper hold...

ACL by the looks. A couple of big F words as he comes off.

What? Like 'Floccinaucinihilipilification'?

I was hoping for a narrow win with no injuries. Still, glad to get the 4 points, and the percentage could be handy.

Campbell rucked against Xerri and the 193cm Johnson rucked against skinny kids.

I can't ever remember Brute Bernard wrestling one-on-one, he was always with Skull Murphy.

Usually against Spiros Orion and Mario Milano (before he went "bad")

Lots to like: Sharp, Langford, Lindsay, AMW, Clarry, JVR, Sparrow,

Not so impressive today: Laurie, Jeffo, Chandler

Harsh on Jefferson🤔

I’m not able to watch but been reading this and thought we were 5 goals down. Get a grip people!

Pessimism seems rife on the comments so far ... and very limited for the DL  folk who cannot get to the game.

I don’t know why they didn’t go with AJ in place of Jeffo. He does provide that 2nd ruck option to chop out Gawn. I don’t know if that’s the plan with Campbell.

Bill already has his ticket punched and Jeffo looking to be that way as well unfortunately for the both of them.

I did however think Chandler worked really hard playing in that role. Often goes unnoticed as it’s a forward defensive role.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
