I must have missed something. What is the issue with Langdon?

From the chat I had with the trainers, they are taking load management much more seriously this year.  They talked particularly about Max and Campbell.  Fingers crossed they follow through!

And Max isn’t allowed to overrule.

Love to hear it. No point risking the guys said who are missing out against North in that weather. Save em. Protect the older bodies/ guys with injury clouds.

No doubt the majority if not all will be on the plane to play freo next week as well👍🏼

Yeah I’d say they will treat the Freo game as if it’s a proper game, given it’s our last hit out before round 1

So is Bison a nickname for the nickname of Harves?

It’d better be! I’ve told him I’d make it happen. But then I told him I’d find him a girlfriend (it’s a long story) and that hasn’t happened so he must know I’m full of empty promises 😅

edit: I’ve just messaged this nickname info to the DA powers that be, including asking how we can make this happen. Now I await their reply which will likely be along the lines of GW- stop making promises for us to follow through on. 🙃

The DA props-maker (and one of our triumvirate of leaders) has already got a great idea for a handheld banner. She’s running with it already. Now to convince the entire playing group 🤔

Gorgeous morning, right temperature, no wind, plenty of vibe around (excited, nervous, up), they are ready to hit and compete.

The veterans of Trac, Spargo, Gawn, Viney, Langdon, May, Fritsch, Salem, and the new one Henderson, had their own program going. They did join in some main drills. Henderson looks OK, can run and covers the ground smoothly, also has a good kick on him. In a general drill where we hadn't dropped a ball until Henderson let one slip. Good learning curve for him. A few others missed after that. I think, starting in that group of leaders will be good for him.

The veterans group did an excessive number of run throughs.

The others were about 28 or so in numbers. Going to be an interesting hit out tomorrow in the sim against North.

Goody controlled the training, mainly by himself. The sims had him structuring mostly infront of the ball. The contest weren't there as they kept distance and allowed each other space.

Kossie heavily involved, as a small forward. Oliver, rotated with him in from the forward to the mid-area.

JVR getting his hands on it, with Turner as his offsider.

Jefferson and Johnson at the end that they weren't kicking too.

Backline being led by Lever who got the intercepts.

Sharp played high half-forward.

Verral and Campbell rucking in different teams.

H.Langford, looked nervous, fumbled a few. Hope he enjoys his first hit out with team tomorrow.

Lindsay is going well, I like that he is quiet, absorbing all he can get, and plays with poise. Will be a good role player for Goody as he is a quick learner.

They had some goal kicking at the end, Mentha has a good banana shape on his snaps.

Brad Green was down at training, hanging out with the "brains trust", on the far side. (First time I have noticed him down at the Paddock).

This is music to my ears or should I say eyes. Now that we are starting to assemble more midfield depth I hope to see Kossie spend the bulk of his time forward. He is such a weapon down there and I think the most dangerous small forward in the game. If we do play with more speed on the ball into a relatively open forward line he will be difficult to stop.

Leb is a very happy lad. He said it’s good to be back in boots. About his injury- listed as a skin infection, he thought it was an ingrown hair at first but the medics said it was likely a spider bite and it became infected. In any case, it’s been cut out. It’s his big toe which is now sporting three stitches and he temporarily can’t bend it. He’s not playing tomorrow but has been told he’ll get a run vs Freo next week.

Nice job Cas'

Yeah for sure. Our round 1 team will need plenty of solid minutes against Freo because when we play GWS they'll be 4 quarters ahead of us in preparation.

I doubt Kozzie will play Freo. Sounds like he's playing tomorrow instead.

Why not "Wallbanger"? Too long? - shorten it to "Banger"🙂

Penny or Tuppenny?

or the derivation

“Bunger”

Back in my occasionally errant childhood used to terrorise the neighbours’ letterboxes with those. These days the the ‘hood would be in full lockdown and you’d be getting frogmarched out.

You know who’s really excited to be playing tomorrow? That’d be Harves. He’s rapt.

Also, someone on here suggested a change of nickname for him, perhaps Bull or Bison. I ran it by him and he said it’d definitely be “very cool” to be called Bison. I said I’d make it happen which I shouldn’t have said coz how the hell can I make it happen?! 🤷‍♀️

Surely ‘Lego’ gets a look in??!!

GAMEDAY: Match SIM vs North Melbourne

After an agonizingly long off-season the 2025 AFL Premiership Season is almost upon us and the Demons have their first practice hit out against the Kangaroos in a match simulation out at Arden Street. The play start time was brought forward from the initial 11am bounce, due to the high temperatures forecast.  The match sim will consist of four 25-minute qu

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
