We essentially need a small forward for a 3 game contract given Kozzie is suspended and Spargo's only just got going and might not be ready for the opening rounds.

I think a high pressure small forward could lock in a spot in the best 23 in my mind. One of the most important roles in modern footy given the extreme team defences now deployed by the best sides.

as it stands we have one - chandler - available for rd 1, given pickett's suspension, spargo's lack of match play, and pup brown's role as a wing

it would make sense if henderson was the chap we were chasing

We should be looking at the future not just 3 games.There are ways of overcoming a loss for that small period.

You have written these 3 games off in previous posts for months as if we will be losing all 3 and our finals chances are ruined.

Thank goodness Clubs gave a better way of approaching this situation in both mind and body than you.Sure Kossie is a loss but AMW Pup or Henderson or Spargo ( won’t be fit enough I don’t think ) or Langford or Trac can all win us the game/s.

A little more faith would be appreciated in the 23 selected to start the season in style.

It’s also asking say Henderson to play his first game being only with the club 2/3 weeks and play a match winning role.

I am happy if it is Henderson or Culley or George. JT and the Footy Dept and TL will make a decision considering all options. 

Very fortunate to have this opportunity and let’s hope Shane can recover to play again. 

If he can play that ANB role (run hard both ways, be accountable for Tracs man when CP sneaks forward) then perfect.

It sounds like Henderson has the traits to play that role while being pretty good with ball in hand. Chocco should have some good insight.

I think that's exactly right, and is what we have now done.

We looked at him closely with the pick we took AJ with so would not surprise.

I will happily eat massive humble pie if we're 3-0 after round 3 and the loss of Kozzie has no impact on our W/L record.

We lack serious X-factor, class and potency when he doesn't play. Think of the early season Sydney and Brisbane losses last year when we were actually up and about as a side, but his absence stuck out like a sore thumb.

We were an impotent forward line and overall team last year even with him in the side, I can't imagine it being any better without him.

Culley must still be a chance, if Kentfield goes on LTI list, to keep the pressure off him and still maybe allow him late in the season to play some footy with Casey, or in a lower competition.

Don’t even think the LTI exists anymore. The inactive list is the mechanism which rules out whoever you put on there for the whole season. 

Why are people so concerned about a small forward? We have plenty; I'd be more interested in someone who can play midfield and could move forward in a pinch running midfield will be the key to this year if, by all accounts, there is a change to how the ball is delivered into the forward line.

Other than Kozzy there isn’t a lot. Chandler doesn’t hit the scoreboard enough. Spargo is always injured and was never a big goal kicker. 
 

We drafted Langford to do the mid/forward role you’re talking about.

I wouldn’t be opposed to any of those 3 and in previous posts I have mentioned all 3 as options I would love to see considered or given a go. However the club seem to be persisting with Laurie as a midfielder, Bowey as a half back/small defender and Brown as a wing/half forward. (Which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me given our lack of options).

Laurie has no pace, you can’t pressure if you can never catch anyone.

Bowey is so well suited to half back. Can’t say he’d be terrible forward but we’re hardly flush for half backs either.

Kynan Brown is second year rookie who’s fumbly and has a lot of work to do with his skills and decision making. This place is way too high on him.

AMW is the one I’m shocked who hasn’t been moved forward again but historically he’s had a poor tank which makes him unsuitable for the role. I assume they’re

Well you have maintained your stays quo. You don’t think about 15 of our players might be better performed this season? 
Oh and a far quicker game plan as well. 
I could give 15 reasons why we could/should be better this year but you aren’t even coming up with ONE???

That's a very big call to make on a bunch of players that have played 6 games (AMW). 2 games (KB), and zero games (Langford), or have never won us a game via individual performance and likely won't even be playing (Spargo). The only one there I'd give credence to is Trac. 

I am still in favour of moving Kentfield to the inactive list and taking Jai or Roy, probably Jai.

Kentfield will not play for quite a while and certainly not at AFL level this year.

Take the pressure off him and let him train and be with the boys, knowing while he is not ready, he isn’t keeping another player off the list.

When ready, he can play at Casey or a lower competition, for the few games left in the season.

I think we will lose Jai in the msd, if we don’t take him now.
