Russell Robertson must have written the article.

To have him in front of Koz is a joke. But who cares really its just a digital click bait [censored] burger.

At least it solves our KPF woes. I reckon this team would give the Lions, Hawks and Tiger dynasties a run for their money.

Not bad, but a few changes I would make would be TMac over Howe, JMac over Rivers and maybe Johnstone over Salem.

Hogan would also go close to dislodging Schwartz if this is considered to be post 2000 Schwartz. I imagine JVR will take that spot in a few years time anyway.

I think I’d go with:

Jetta          May        Lever

Hibberd     J Rivers  T Rivers

Langdon     Oliver       Yze

Green.        Schwarz.   Fritsch

Farmer.       Neitz.         Robertson

Gawn.         Petracca.     Jones

White.         Viney.          Davey

J McDonald

Sub: Brayshaw

The small back pocket has to go to either Jetta or Whelan.

Davey in for sure.

Not sure post knee Ox or Robbo or Courageous Cam make it.

Junior McD should be in & surely Pickett has done enough.

Did Aaron Davey ever play a single game in the backline?  Odd selection for back pocket.

Played a while as one of the original “quarterback” accumulators. Got loads of the ball and used it well in a time where it mattered little. More half back than pocket, and a weapon anywhere on the field. Has all Australian vibes where you just have to shoehorn the stars in though.

Jeremy Howe?     Get fckued

What a load of garbage that is.   The bloke should never be associated with our club with the amount of digs he has given us over the years and his football is no way good enough to make this side

Howe is so far behind Nev Jetta.

Jeremy Howe???

Yeah righto, didn’t even want to be at the club & played like it

A few speccies then I turn the ball over

No thanks

Schwarz shouldn't be in the side.  59 games and 61 goals in the 2000s doesn't cut it.

Rivers hasn't done enough.

Howe ?  Defintely no.  He failed as a forward and was OK down back, but not enough to be in the best defence in the last 25 years.

It's harder to say who should replace them, but unquestionably James McDonald makes the team.

Robbo gave me many great memories.

Yep me too. Particularly when were 90 odd points down and then he would kick a couple of cheapies at the end to only lose by 80 or maybe even high 70's.

Seems like a ripper guy and he definitely had some magic but on the balance of output, offensively and most definitely defensively he isnt even close to Kozzie.

Anyone that can't see that doesnt deserve to see.

Not sure about the following:

- Howe’s best B&F finish was just 6th and spent the entire 2015 season sooking it up at P Roos for playing him as a defender.

- Schwarz didn’t even give us 3 completed season in the 2000’s. He was more of the 90’s side.

- Rivers might be a touch premature. However he’s given us some great service so far with a 50 odd consecutive streak of games.

You're off the mark here.

Robertson kicked over 40 goals in a season six times.  He also kicked 73 goals in a season.

He won a best & fairest.

He kicked 7 goals in a Queen's Birthday match and 7 goals on Matthew Scarlett in a stunning win at Kardinia Park.

And he should be marked down for his glorified karaoke career.

What were the parameters for this team? Schwartz was a superstar at best but pre-2000s. Howe, and arguably Hogan, have been high class but moreso at other clubs. Jordan Lewis' career was very good too, but 95% of his reputation comes from deeds elsewhere.

Just performances at 21st MFC vs players who were in the team this century would be two different matters

I thought school holidays ended?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
