So we replace a LTI with another LTI! Classic

MFCSS.

Touch wood but barring further serious injuries we could be back to near full strength by round 6.🤞🤞🤞

Marty Hore's body is simply not made for AFL. I reckon he retires at years end.

There will be quite a few moved on at seasons end I think, will be the biggest list re-set we've had in a while.

Hore, Melksham, McDonald, Billings, Verrall, Woewodin & Fullarton I think should all be either retired/delisted at a minimum.

We then need to be ultra aggressive on the trade/free agency table to replenish our list.

Have heard us linked to Oscar Allen and Kane Farrell, that would be a great start but we are going to need a lot more!

I hope so.

You can probably add Laurie to that list of delisted/trade. Do the club give Campbell another year or does he retire?

There is also question marks on McAdam as well and then the obvious one is Kozzie Pickett..

I think Laurie is contracted for another season, so I'm guessing he will be gone end of 2026 if we don't see big improvements.

McAdam also has another year so I guess we will see how that plays out.

The club will be desperate for Kozzy to stay, so I guess we will see.

Campbell you could probably give another 1 year, basement bargain contract to as depth but we need to start scouring for longer term ruck options.

Is Marty Hore made of paper? What a total waste of a list spot.

Why do you even bother supporting this club? Everything is a disaster to you.

He fractured his hand (freak/acute incident) then has a calf strain without (AFAIK) a history of calf issues. It’s disappointing but not really that big of an issue.

Yeah, but he (Poita) is right though. He had been delisted, then relisted. Why? If it is just for depth, give the spot to a young bloke

He had been one of the best players in the VFL two years in a row, so deserved another crack. Unfortunately his body just keeps breaking down while on our list.

Starting to feel the dreaded Dees injury curse again

Injury & Suspension List: Round 3

[player, injury or suspension, estimated return]

Jake Lever — ankle / fitness test
Steven May — larynx / test

Jake Melksham  — hamstring / test / likely Casey
Kysaiah Pickett — suspended / 1 week
Matt Jefferson — hand / 1 - 2 weeks
Caleb Windsor — infection in his foot / 1 - 2 weeks

Koltyn Tholstrup  —  back / 2 - 3 weeks
Judd McVee — hamstring / 2 - 3 weeks
Jai Culley — foot / 2 - 3 weeks
Marty Hore — calf / likely 2-3 weeks
Luker Kentfield — illness / 3 - 4 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season
Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

——————————————————-

ps Darren Burgess - fitness coach at the Crows. Their injury list is two players probably ranked in the last few on their list

I believe we have 19 players OOC, (18 if May has been extended). Quite a few of those are fringe players who we've been persisting with, so you'd imagine there'll be a few on the way out.

Equally, you have to bring other players in to replace them and we only have 3 draft picks, with 2 of those being in the 50's, so some work to be done.

Yep, massive list problems looming!

The good news is that we get two of our quickest players back - Kozzie (served suspension) and the Duke (available) plus a number of others if they pass fitness tests before Friday.

Injury List: Round 4

Caleb Windsor — foot / available

Jai Culley — foot / available

Jake Lever — ankle / test

Charlie Spargo — concussion / test

Matt Jefferson — hand / test

Luker Kentfield — illness / 1 week

Koltyn Tholstrup  —  back / 1 week

Xavier Lindsay — knee / 1 - 2 weeks

Judd McVee — hamstring / 2 weeks

Marty Hore — calf / 5 - 7 weeks

Shane McAdam — Achilles / next season

Andy Moniz-Wakefield — knee / next season

Gee Culley’s come from the clouds. In the video Selwyn says he’ll play modified minutes in the VFL this week. The way our midfield’s going, we may want to call on him sooner rather than later…

Kentfield and Tholstrup on the brink of doing the same next week.

I'm really excited to see Tholstrup playing footy again, even if it takes a few weeks of VFL to blow out the cobwebs.

As I said to mates before the season, if we have good luck with injuries, we should have a good year.

Yep.

So he has gone from "maybe he'll play, we'll see if we can manage it" to "maybe we should seek the opinion of an expert".

The expert says he needs surgery, so he'll be out for 8 weeks.

What in the actual F is our 'medical' team doing?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
