Had to shoulder more responsibility as the club’s injury concerns deepened but needs to step up more as he closes in on 100 games.

Stagnated more than a pond full of mosquitos

Young high-level draftees will quickly push him out of his HF role if he doesn't crack in next year

25 minutes ago, whatwhat say what said:

i'm not convinced he's ever going to be anything other than serviceable

he doesn't impact enough for a second string mid and he doesn't run hard enough as a fwd / mid to replace the likes of anb

we really need him to step up

Agree, has improved since 2021. I really thought after that finals series he would really kick on. Unfortunately if anything he’s gone backwards.
Hopefully being dropped at the end of the season and some new mids coming in via the draft might give him the motivation to kick in a little bit.
Might pay to ten down a bit as he doesn’t really used his size.

He's going to have to carve out a role for himself now that other mids are pushing for his midfield rotations (River, Koz, Windsor and the top 10 mid(s) we draft).

Could be as a tagger who can follow a star mid around all day. Will have to continue to build his fitness and size, not to mention getting a bit more nasty perhaps to get under the oppo's skin and really own the role.

We saw with a lot of hard work and dedication what happened with Nibbler in his early 20's when he had to change his primary position from midfielder to high HF. I don't see why at 24 yrs why Sparrow can't do the same. He doesn't have Nibblers attributes but if he can get really fit and just bring consistent intensity I think he can play a role in our best 22.

one of the biggeet/strangest letdowns of 2024 (playing-wise).. he's always liked a goal, which might save him, but didn't even get many of those this year. seems a good young fella, but if it doesn't work out for him in 2025, i'd trade him back to SA.

Don’t disagree with any of the above, however Tom Sparrow May have been stifled in the role that he played, I want to see him play with some freedom ala 2021 where he played with confidence freedom and link player. Come on Spaz let’s see your best football in 2025 and beyond.

Thanks Roy11 , those stats are surprising, indicates that he is super fit so another big preseason should put him in contention for a bigger role next year.

Interesting.  Work rate seems to be there, but impact less so, or less obvious.  He's got a great kick on him and a tough/strong body and mindset, so I see heaps of potential upside to Tommy, just needs something to click for him to go to that next level.  Maybe Chunk can help him?

As an asides how impressive is it for a player of Tommy Mac's size and age to be still right up there for distance covered.  He was always the top distance athlete, but to keep kicking on at his age and with some of the injuries he's had is amazing.  Nothing but respect for T Mac.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. 2024 Player Reviews: #22 Blake Howes

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

2024 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. 2024 Player Reviews: #40 Taj Woewodin

The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
