Been a while since I have posted but has anyone heard anything about the Demons being linked to Ash Johnson from Collingwood? Shane McAdam connection allegedly has Johnson interested in joining the Demons. I assumed he was contracted but can't find details.

Unless he is delisted he won't be leaving and the fact Kreuger has been let go indicates he is needed.

Also fyi, Shane and Ash are brothers

Contract for next year, so wasn't traded.

Wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. He's got poor attitude and work ethic. He battled away in the VFL for most of the year despite the Pies crying out for forward targets due to injuries to Mihocek and McStay.

Struggled in VFL, kicking 10+ goals less than our own youngster Jefferson.

Probably best to close this thread and burn it with fire.

He’s contracted for next year and wasn’t traded so he’d have to be delisted with a year to run to get to Melbourne.

He looked like the worst player in the league in 2024. Made Shane look good by comparison. Lazy, uninterested, devoid of confidence.

If he didn’t have a contract I don’t think he’d be on an afl list in 2025.

We have been humiliated by Collingwood for about 2 years now.

They laugh at us!

No way should we take another lazy footballer!

His brother Shane McAdam is lazy enough!

I am a No. Huge disappointment this year at the Pies.  Played VFL and lack of work ethic. Has the talent.  Not the dedication. He’s contracted so unless he’s delisted, move on.

Seems similar to his brother re preparing and training or are you just [censored]..d off with the family unfairly?

If this is true then why are they not keeping him instead of Krueger who also seems injured all the time.

BTW is Krueger a cousin of Shane and Ash by any chance?

Reckon a chance on Krueger would not be stupid move for sssp or get him to on train with us in pre season,

I never referred to his family. Not sure why you've mentioned them?

I gave my opinion on a player struggling for form at VFL level who is worse performed than options we already have in the VFL. The common knock on him is poor work ethic. His VFL coach Fraser even called out his poor work ethic in a post game interview late in the year.

Unless Johnson has a great season next year, he won't be on an AFL list going forward. He's being kept by the Pies because he's still got a contract, where as Kreuger is out of contract. Kreuger is an injury prone battler and will likely head home to SA to play in the SAFL if he can get on the park.

Nah his family is from Darwin/Alice Springs (Kreuger)

Just another on a long list of AFL players who showed a glimpse of immense talent when playing Melbourne...and at no other time in what inevitably turned out to be a short career.

Started his career with a bang but then got bored with footy and is now running the clock down on his contract. Will be back in Port Hedland or wherever after next season.

Markov helps win them a flag last year then delisted/rookied

Nice way to reward him

Rookie spots need a major overhaul if Markov gets a rookie spot

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
