This girl's in her bedroom, she's not doing any work
She's fooling with the draft points, she's going berserk
One hand a vape resting on the window, the other one keys AFL trade radio
I dig the talkback, but Purple drives her nuts
Day time, Cal's fine, no ifs or buts
It's all so tragic but there’s still some fun
If you don't pay too much attention. I say
Who listens to Trade Radio?
Who listens to Trade Radio?
Who listens to Trade Radio?
That's what I'd like to know
Who listens to Trade Radio.

At least you kept it in sports.

Well, apart from announcing half a dozen of the free agents who moved clubs today, Trade Radio produced a lot of speculation and idle chatter and once again, little of substance.

FWIW, given that he’s been mentioned in dispatches as having attracted some interest from Melbourne, it has been reported by Tom Morris that no one is considering Matthew Owies at the moment.

And that’s the Trade Radio News for the day.

Listened in for a while. Geez, it’s a struggle to do a non-stop program about trading when not much is happening.

Only thing non-stop is the incessant advertising. During the one hour soak, wash, rinse, spin, repeat cycle of  ‘the show’. The presenters, after product promos need to come up with roughly ten minutes of spoken words each. Set the time delay dial to next Wednesday.

We rightfully had a crack at Peatling and missed.

Perryman is going to be paid $900k at the Pies.

Cummings a 6 year deal at the Crows.

Battle enough contract to trigger the highest draft compensation.

Houston if we were still in it would be costing us pick 5

Baker and Bolton we are in the wrong state to entice.

Noble and Rioli first round picks.

Haynes, Darling, Parker passed well passed their best and would require good $$ multi year retirement deals.

Some times the best list management is the one that does little.

You are joking? Offer nothing get nothing! We have been mannifestly poor so far, and from where I sit to think we will improve with this list is foolhardy thinking!

Your last sentence is where we've gone wrong over the past couple of years. Acquired players during trade week simply because they were available at a discount, and not because they were the right fit.

We missed out on our targeted players in Houston and Peatling, so aside from Derksen, it's time to shut up shop.

Which of the above deals I mentioned would you do?

Remind me your thoughts on Fullerton and Billing’s deals where you could argue we just did something?

I don’t think I am foolhardy for thinking that with improvement from youngsters like JVR, Windsor, Kolt, Jeffo , Verrall etc and fit Clarry, Tracc, May, Lever, Bowey etc, and the addition of a couple of really talented draftees, that we will improve on the side that lost by under a goal, to 4 of the top 5 teams, including the Premier at home in the last kick of the game.

We will get far more from a good injury run and a player buy in on reverting to that selfless team game, than we will get from a couple of overpriced good players that are really just coming for money or a super payout.

At this point I hope we don't trade anyone in.  Anyone good would require our pick 5

I prefer to hit this draft hard. More of Kozzi/Rivers/Windsor to rejuvenate the team

Yep, none of the “we need to get older” bs from Richo thank you.

More of the ‘we need to get better players’.
