Is there an echo in here?

Happy to hear this. Need all the leadership we can get.

I almost beat Peter Ryan in my defence

Couldn't agree more re the leadership situation (same goes for Tmac), but also, while I know Milkshake has his detractors (on this forum at least) I am rapt he stays on for his footy smarts, skills and forward line marshalling. We are always better with him in the side, and miss him greatly when he isn't. And good on him for being rewarded for staying the course - he could have easily run up the white flag with that knee. A class act...

Absolutely fair and with several outgoing players it looks like depositing are done which is one very small but good side effect of Nibbler, Gus horrors! Then Brown retiring & Tommo moving on with KFW & JS delisted were prob basically done with Hore waiting til end of trade period to hear his fate. Smith obviously still on list which seems a mute point to me now but if allowed to play next year I guess it makes sense but that while mess id rather just see forget the whole thing tbh. Hunter id expected to hear about by now but think surely that’s on cards.

Continuity of list is a VERY good thing..

To be honest, our depth is so poor, we are in no position to be pensioning off the likes of Melksham and T Mac. It's not a slight on these two, but we have noone coming through the ranks to challenge them for a place in the team.

It was a no brainer that Melksham and T Mac would be given another year.

Very happy to have Jake Melksham commit to another year he and TMac provide strength of character experience and leadership to our group.

Great signing. Really improved our forward line when he came back into the side with his field kicking, goal assists, and on field leadership. I know it's highly unlikely, but gee I'd love to see Melk win a flag.

I think his detractors have shrunk over the journey.

Fully behind Melk getting an extension, our fwd line functions better when he’s up there and just a great person to have around a team that feels like is starting to skew younger.

Agree with the “one more year”.  Mainly because our erosion of depth and Melksham can help guide others.  I think he stays on a lower dollar contract based more on games played.  Definitely the forward line looked more potent with him in the team and his kicking for goal is elite (unlike most others).

IMO a good signing.
Experience.
Leadership.
Poise.
Skills.
And he has really only had a couple of months of match day battering this year that should leave him quite a bit fresher than many of his team mates and opponents.

I would be looking at him playing this year with a view to a Coaching post if it can be done in a later time.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
