And you know this conversation was not had because….?

You also realize that the club has known about his desire to get home for a while now and are enraged beyond belief that it was leaked early?

Nibbler was open to going to either SA club. Crows were the only ones interested. Hence he is going for maximum value.
With someone like ANB, his value to us was always going to far exceed his trade value. It sucks, but much like with Clarry situation, sometimes doing the right thing by your people is more important than “winning”.

What would ANB have done if the Crows weren't interested either?

Who knows. Maybe he'd have given up footy.  Since most of us have no idea of what his family cirumstances are, these questions make little sense except add fuel to the fire.    It's pretty clear Jaded knows what's what and it quite rightly keeping stum about matter that we don't need to know (though maybe some want to know). I'll accept what she says.

Why don't we offer the world to bring Zac Butters home,he probably won't come but just to Pizz Port off every year like they do to us,

7 year,$10 Million,just to get him thinking

Can't stand September Pretender Hinkley!!!

Butters will come back at some stage. Doesn't want to buy a house or get a girlfriend as he cant commit to Adel long term. Terrible way to live your life.

This is the worst, the club is feeding us all bill [censored] and heads must roll, we want and deserve the actual truth you pack of bastards!

Because you don’t know why Nibbler is leaving.
I am not going to say anything else as it’s nobody’s business.

Just respect his decision and understand that the club is being accommodating to him for the right reasons.

Most members are in the same boat as me I'd suspect.

Both players are from other states. Both players with young children. Clearly you're implying Nibblers situation has layers of challenges that perhaps Kozzys might not. If that's the case I think the club should make that clearer because at the moment I feel like we have set a president that we'll let players walk from contracts. Completely opposite to the hard line Stance we've taken with Petty and Tommo in recent years

Just think of all the draft picks we'll have when we have no players left!

How have we set a precedent?

We have categorically stated we won't be trading Trac, and other than one half cocked media report yesterday, has the club said anything about Kosi wanting to leave, let alone that they will let him?
Did his manager not come out a week ago and say he was happy at Melbourne?
Expressing homesickness and a desire to get home more often is NOT the same as asking to leave.

There are different challenges around ANB which neither you nor I have any right to know about. This is the private life of a player and his family, and the whole thing would have been done in a completely different way from both his and the club's perspective, if once again someone had not leaked it!

Whoever did leak it, and I have no idea who it was, should be utterly ashamed of themselves. It was a pathetic betrayal of a much loved player, who equally has a lot of love for our club and is very much sad to leave.

Josh Smilie, Jagga Smith, Harvey Langford, Sam Lalor and Luke Trainor - YOU are Melbourne Demons

This is almost reaching levels of taking the [censored].
He had the chance to go home but chose to sign a 4 year deal, then when the club is in turmoil he plays the homesick card.
Hope the club tells him where to stick it.

But from another perspective, the club is in absolute turmoil right now. How could a coach possibly survive when your 2 most important players are desperate to leave (and they're not the only 2), another leader is jumping ship, you have another star at a crossroads and a player banned for illegal substances.
How is he untouchable in this situation?

We should trade everyone except for Trac. Have him run round with Vic Metro on the mcg in 2025

Do you know for certain that Kosi is desperate to leave? Or is that just more media spin?

ANB who is the other leader I presume you refer to in regards to 'jumping ship', is not leaving by choice but by necessity.

I can tell you categorically that the main reason Kos signed for 4 years, was because of Goodwin.

Now if you happen to know who the other players are that are desperate to leave, I would love to get some names, because the recent signings of so many players would indicate that either they are happy, or that we are holding a gun to their head.

if he wants to go back to sa / wa...then he wants to go, but it would seem clear to me that if we can get the deal done then it'll be sooner rather than later

i think we're all mature enough to realise that, at some point, he's going to want to leave melbourne (the city)

it will no doubt be at same stage during this current contract - he'll want to be 'settled' in a home state before his first born starts school, you'd think, which will be around the time of the current contract expiring

Yet 3 of those 3 resigning are the ones that have told the club they want to leave?

I've already mentioned another player that is homesick although nothing against the MFC, he loves the club, But you can't possibly think the coach (and especially Richardson) can survive a debacle like this?

In a post that got deleted yesterday I indicated that Petracca would be satisfied if Goodwin and Richardson were moved on, and in the same post I indicated Carlton and Petracca have been flirting for a longer time than the media has known which was confirmed by Morris last night.

The club is on it's knees and a review of EVERY position is desperately needed, especially the coach and head of football operations

Sign them all up to 7 year deals!

What could go wrong!?

ANB and Kosi did not re-sign this year. Nor has Trac.
Are you saying that JVR, Langdon and Disco who all re-signed this year told the club they want to leave?

I am totally agreeing with you on the last part of your post. We absolutely need a review of every position, and I have no doubt that Goody will come under review, as he should. But IMO there are people sitting above him who are a far bigger problem than he is. The overall sense I got is that the players really like and respect Goodwin.

Managers saying a player is happy and going nowhere is the equivalent of a Board saying a coach has their full support ...

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
