It’s probably just me (it usually is), but this topic is giving me flashes of the old Demonology site, particularly concerning events (a ‘hostile’ takeover, or attempted takeover; I can’t recall if it was successful) that pretty much led to that site’s demise.

That’s not to say that Demonland is under threat, but just that the tone of certain posts directed at the board is somehow similar.

There were some full blown crazies on that forum who thought Demonland was where the Leftist would hang out. Strawberry Fields was what Demonland was referred to at the time.

I stopped posting there after a while as I couldn’t handle the rhetoric and constant arguing.

Hopefully the club does what’s necessary to keep us all sane and we can avoid an ‘Ology like decline.

Which players did we miss out on?

Rumours about Goodwin, correct rumours

The membership numbers are in the same ball park, according to you they have dropped, wrong.

They are not a powerful voice, it is the media, click baiters extroadinaire.

Orrr.... and just hear me out.... it is possible the MFC isn't perfect and has some issues to work through?

And if someone hadn’t left Blake Acres on his own in the goal square with a minute to go in last years semi we’d be above 70k, that wasn’t the boards fault..

Hotmail!  Once upon a time I had the hotmail address of [email protected]. then forgot the password sometime over the decades.

I got a message from hotmail congratulating me on our 25yr anniversary.

Hmm, by the logic of some on here that means I should have a say on how Microsoft is run.

I must say, watching this thread and its "Gish Gallop vs Sealioning" battle of wills has become fascinating in a petrie dish kind of way.

There are issues, mostly within the Footy Dept to sort out, hence why we have Alan Richardson, Simon Goodwin and the Club psychologist.

The only major one we have to do with anything else is Mr Lawrence taking us to court and costing the club money.

Still over 60,000 I was in ringing around when it was down around 32000, so not bad, but then again we have supporters who only support when there is success, hence the pitiful Saturday night attendances,  I can say this because I have not missed a home game for 15 years. Because I support the team and I trust the Board to sort out the problems and not have a sulker who didn't get voted on to the Board creating issues.

Nothing wrong with the interview, played a straight bat to questions that were trying to draw more.

I agree, anything to do with the Footy Department is Footy Department to handle.

Give it a couple of days and the media vultures will move on to something else.

Just a question is there something wrong with both St Kilda and West Coast that Josh Battle and Tom Barass want to trade out of their respective clubs?

So who is president of the footy department of the MFC?

Both Battle and Barass don't have contracts?

well, i would argue, that in the last strategic plan the club achieved 4 of the 5 outcomes stated

the one glaring omission was the home base

but, as per other threads, that ain't for want of trying...

Did we?

1- play finals each year 2020-23 and win a flag. We didn't play finals in 2020, we did win a flag. I'd give it a pass but technically a fail.

2- $4m profit over 4 years - did we achieve this? Eliminate debt. $30m+ of income producing assets. I'm not sure about any of this so not sure if it's a pass or fail.

3- have a culture that inspires excellence and attracts new talent. Pretty wishy washy though you can argue our culture has gone backwards and have struggled to attract new talent since the flag. I give this a fail though it is subjective.

4- 75k+ members, 50k+ average home crowds. Fail.

5- home base. Fail.

That's at least 3 fails out of 5 for me and possibly fails on all 5 (again not sure on point 2).

What is the harm in reviewing performance and operations?

Depends on what it finds and who may be held accountable.

Nah I saved it from those nutbags, just.... was getting harrassing phone calls for at least 2 years. I kept it going albet it was a niche group of us chatting, I wanted to keep tims legacy going for as long as possible. Then decided it was time to just let it go and have Demonland as the main source of forum chat. The segregation of members and community is exactly what happened with our cheer squads years ago, didnt want that to continue. And am glad i shut it down for that reason as there is a lot of posters that have come back to land.

I read the Federal Court decision, and it does feel like the board has failed to get the balance right between stability and accountability.

The rules were very much designed to make it almost impossible for a major change to be made at board level. While good for stability, it’s less so for accountability.

The fact that the election rules had to be changed seven times within a couple of years doesn’t fill me with confidence. The issue could have been resolved in a much less fumbling manner.

The decision went in the clubs favour, but only because they appeased almost every element of the application before the decision. The end outcome probably strikes a better balance between stability and accountability, but fighting it out in the Federal Court isn’t the best way to achieve it.

That's the point isn't it the current mob are not managing over the last couple of weeks

I don’t know that el Lawrence is just wanting an Arab uprising  OR to reduce the MFC to rubble

but I am not happy that turmoil has been allowed to fester. And individual players are more important than the whole side.
it should not have happened but once happened it should have been contained.

the people in charge should have taken ownership of the mess and contained it.

i was also dissatisfied that Goodness gave Daicos three Brownlow votes, that should not have happened either.
ostich mentality.

Fix it .

I didn't get the email. I just want someone to demand an independent review. CEO, President and coach should resign. Answers re Joel Smith, Grundy, Kozzie, Trac. Poor forward play. No strategy. No training site. Pathetic.

I understand what all the hoo-hah is about, but surely things aren't as bad as they seem. We're in the midst of a highly successful period. The club is doing well and the admin is running things just fine.

I suggest that instead of tearing things down, we should be accepting the way things are and hardening up a bit, showing some resilience.

Yeah, it's possible things could be better, but they certainly could be a whole lot worse.

Buck up Demonlanders! Knuckle down for the hard road ahead!

"Highly successful"? You're having a laugh. We were successful in 2021, since then it's been underachievement before finishing 5th last this year.

One thing I did not agree with in the Roffey interview was not considering an independent review.

I am leaning towards voting yes for this.
