I am glad we have recruiting staff that do not post on land.  Half the side would not play.
but hard decisions are needed,  cut deep and refresh with youth.
some players give service and deserve to stay, cost us little and serviceable depth.

others not quite right. Let go by other clubs for a reason.
glad someone smarter than me does it.

I thought Kozzie tripping over his own feet summed up the season myself.
Summed up the last 3seasons TBH.

List mgt has been exposed, losing 3 x top 5 picks mids , Brayshaw , Oliver Trac plus defenders May & Levef there’s 5 AA! Not letting Goodwin & Co off the hook but remove the equivalent in the majority of teams you are struggling

Couldn’t agree more. Our list management and match committee this year have been poor. Our list is way too too heavy with NQR talls. Why extend Schache, why then recruit Fullerton. KFW having to play at St Bedes in the Ammo’s because Casey is that tall, which leads to the next point. The cupboard is bare at Casey for pure midfielders. We lose Dunstan, JJ, Harmes and obviously and sadly Brayshaw. Instead of replacing Angus with a kid we go and replace with another tall. Nothing against Kentfield I wish him all the best but from a list management point of view a puzzling decision. Mids must be our focus this off season.

Big shout out to Tommy Mac and also Kade Chandler for last night. A willingness to compete, work-rate, spread, chase, harass, energy. All non negotiables that I expect from my team. I don’t expect us to win every game but I do want to see effort. Cannot fault these two last night. Well done!!!

WTF were people expecting?? It was the most average team we’d played all year. So many missing parts..why the doom and gloom. Had some moments..completely outclassed. No midfield..no backline and the forwardline probably was our best line…get realistic… we were not good enough because we had too many NQR parts

Didn’t expect to win but a bit of effort would have been nice. There was a lot of unforced, just plain lazy turnovers

Yeah have posted a number of times our disastrous trades of the last 2 seasons  which are som playing @ Casey .. blowtorch needs to go on our recruitment & list mgt strategy

I also didn’t understand why Kynan Brown didn’t play. He has the pace and tenacity we missed.

Yes - we should have played K. Brown and AMW who are more our future than some who were gifted games last night.

Love the clubman spirit he offers, but he had three or four Nibbler moments last night that had me pulling my hair out. I’m sorry to those that love him, but we won’t miss him as much as people think

Or that they are good match ups for the foot speed and ball movement speed of Collingwood which once again exposed us.

Poos his pants every time, I'd love to know his goals/points for the year.

One thing that gives me the [censored] every time we play the filth is our lack of mongrel and willingness to stand up for team mates. I’m not in the sack Goody camp but I’m convinced it’s down to him. We have players capable of flying the flag, Viney,JVR,Petty,Kossie,Melksham, and May amongst others but never show any fight. I’m convinced this is down to coaching, having a soft leader in Max probably doesn’t help.

Collingwood shows a lot more in this regard and still managed to win the free kick count easy. Being harder and willing to stand up for team mates doesn’t mean playing outside of the rules.
We need to get a tougher edge to us, getting a bit stronger and been able to stick some tackles wouldn’t be a bad thing either.

We can't land a tackle while they have three players tackling one of ours at every opportunity. Frustrating to say the least.

I’ll start on a positive.  The only highlight being at the G  last night was giving that dirty filthy mongrel [censored] Maynard all that he deserved. Well done demon supporters. Good job!

The bad, it’s all been said above.

The worst. Listening to that germ Derm on SEN whilst watching the game. Have never come across a more pompous full of himself [censored] that loves himself and hates Melbourne with a vengeance. He was at his deplorable worst last night.

Glad the season is over. (Go GWS in the finals)

i have a bad case of cognitive dissonance about Maynard. I'm anti-violence in everyday life. but i would love to see Maynard laid out someday. I know its wrong but there it is.

First quarter was appalling.  And the second, and the third and the fourth.

We are weak.  In the head.  In the skills department.  In the speed department.  We actually do not even know how to play with speed.  We can't even think quick.  The idea that we play with flair, take the game on, take risks has absolutely been suppressed by goodwins tactics.  AFL football's eunuchs.

Thanks Nibbler.  A heartfelt thanks but, see ya.  I for one won't miss you.  At all.  A bell curve of a career at melbourne for sure.  That weekend in Perth in 2021 being the highpoint.  [censored] to begin with and [censored] to finish with.

Can we never play JVR in the ruck ever again please.

Billings is no good.  Simple as that.  Not cut out for the big league.  Dan Nicholson 2.0.

In fact whoever is responsible for recruitment.  Hang your heads in shame.  Billings, McAdam, Fullarton. Schache, [censored] Hunter the little pipsqueak - let those names sink in for a little bit.  [censored] for christs sake!

[censored] season, [censored] ending.  It will get worse too over the summer most likely.  Petracca probably wants out.

It was fun last night swatting away pies fans & there stupid comments.

Don't deflect because you're team have gone from premiers to chumps.

That's an excellent point.

This has been obvious for weeks.  Missing out on finishing 8th and a likely early exit comes with huge benefits.  Not only a better fixture, although don't bet on us getting the Tigers twice, longer off season and return to pre season earlier. The cherry on the cake is the draft position. If by some miracle results go our way this weekend we will have circa pick 5 as opposed to around 11 or12.Huge!!  Been advocating this for weeks.  The big one is StKilda. If they lose we are likely shunted back two draft places with the impending departure of Battle.  Hoping for a decent win for the Suns and the Blues to capitulate.🤞

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
