What a mess! Kossie not top class? Howes 16 games... but is somehow clogging the list? Sharp yet to be given an opportunity and most recent selection an emergency for the Premiers! Do your homework Turner!

Ruthless time of the year.  Another round of delistings sees Olli Hotton leave the Saints.  He is a promising youngster, only 20yo with 2 years in the system.  Saw him at VFL level when Sandringham beat Casey.  In a close game , Membrey again was prolific with 6 goals but Hotton also looked dangerous as a half forward and kicked 5 goals.  Not sure why he’s delisted.  Work rate? Attitude? Surplus of small forward types?? I am not saying Dees need to bring him but it shows how clubs are making tough calls and even talented youngsters who don’t show enough development , can and will be delisted.  Dees are holding a few on the list in the hope that they will develop … but perhaps we should be making tougher decisions.  Maybe next year.

howes has played 16 games placing him =37th overall for games played from his draft with miller bergman from north

55 games, two whole seasons of top level football behind the leaders of his class. i didnt say i dont think hes got some nice attributes, likewise sharp he was clearly a targetted recruit and a moneyball selection given what we believe his output will be compared to teh price of the trade but i am not overly optomistic either one will have any meaningful or consistent impact in the next 12-24 months at which point both will be 24yo's with 6 years in the league. look how quickly geelong make calls on their draftees. with many not being given longer than the initial 1 or 2 years. we almost always extend out to 4 for every draftee which limits our felxibility at this time of year

 Not all are list cloggers

sharpe Howes can play forward also and remember he has had two seasons marred by injury. Might be also better with a few kilos added but not Essential. The other 4 may if given opportunities especially MacAdam if fit and Fullarton maybe a key position even down back might be ok. But yes Laurie and Billings need a real lift to be regulars.

Rookie list is a joke.

SYDNEY has committed to redrafting defender Joel Hamling and swingman Aaron Francis in November's rookie draft after announcing the pair had been delisted on Wednesday.

COLLINGWOOD has committed to selecting premiership player Oleg Markov in next month's Telstra AFL Rookie Draft after the 28-year-old was delisted on Tuesday.  Markov and key forward Ash Johnson have both dropped off the club's senior list, but the Magpies say they will re-list the pair in the rookie draft on November 22.

Understand 3x premiership forward Jack Gunston will be delisted by @HawthornFC today...

But will be picked up in the rookie draft next month! Club and player all on the same page and happy with the plan to free up another list spot.

This is a joke. 33yo. 260 games. 3x premiership player. Rookie 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Should be called the Supp list not the rookie list but build a bridge and get over it. Semantics

🤦‍♂️

I’ll refer to you as a forum clogger

Isn't today the day our list has to be finalised? Still waiting for a confirmed list of delistings

Do we now have an extra spot ??

end of trades, delistings and retirements pre the draft

in my view, clubs are seeing this draft as being very deep and will look to add in some cases between 4-5 new draftees.  I can see the stretching of picks, and going into the early 70s perhaps in this years draft.

I know this will not be a popular opinion and I don't know the exact amount of spots we've got on the rookie list, but St Kilda have let go of Brad Crouch with the promise to re-rookie him. He was injured this year, but played nearly every game the 3 years before that (since he move from Adelaide). If we wanted a midfielder to walk in and make an impact (as long as he's over his injuries), then we could do the Hugh Greenwood to him and get him before the Saints. Might provide some protection for the young guys we pick up at 5/9, while he has clearly been a high level player in the past.

Brad Crouch.  I’d offer him the Casey captaincy. Though he would get better $$$ elsewhere.  He’s a good tough contested player but injuries and now wear & tear have eroded his body.  Could play a few good games but not for the campaign needed.

i think when a club delists a player with the promise that they'll re-draft / rookie list placement there's a tacit agreement between clubs that there won't be any poaching taking place

of course, it bites you in the derriere when a player then becomes a free agent when next out of contract and with their development having moved them into a best 25 in yr squad, ripe for the poaching...

North took Greenwood off the Suns this way. Would be rare to happen though. Think that’s the only time

AFL website now says that Max Knobel has been delisted by Freo, with a promise to redraft.  He is a 206cm  20 year old ruckman from Gippsland. Maybe there is an unwritten rule re the delisting and redrafting of players but they took a ruck from us.... I'm not sure Verrall has the height to be a number 1 ruck in the future.

Think Richmond may have taken David Williams off us this way.

I know Brad, and he has had every treatment known to man on that knee. In his own words, the knee is no good (he did use a different adjective, but you get the idea). He triggered a clause for another year on his contract, which is why he may be moved to the rookie list, but his playing career is under extreme doubt.

As a project player in the ruck in the far future it worth a punt.

Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
