Well he can shut up everyone tonight by saying he's staying. Hopefully it's not the cliche stuff & just say he's contracted.

I hope he was happy to do it & won't accuse the club of forcing him.

Hearing he's going to express his frustrations at Collingwood's list management for not having a first round pick this year

He better come out and clearly state he’s a Demons for life.

I can’t handle hearing anything else this week. I’m still raw from the JLo-Affleck divorce announcement.

This.

If he is the slightest wishy washy, half committed, PR neutral then all clubs will take notice and get to work over 2025 to work a deal with the Dees.

It was very unlikely to happen this year and I think he’ll likely seek a trade next year unless there is some monumental shift in game style and performance. If he is truly after success then also doubt he’ll goto Pies as they are in no better position than us.

Maybe he sees us further dropping out of contention and he doesn’t want to around to lead the next generation come through. Maybe he sees the opp to net us some picks but then jump ship at the same time. When you take the emotion out of it, it is actually a good outcome for both parties - if and only if we are well and truly on the slide.

Funny that Pies fans think that if they had a first round pick this year that would be enough to get the deal done. Delusional as they are toothless.

Yep. If it's not a definitive "I'm a Demon for Life" statement and we don't rise up the ladder next year then he is as good as gone by Round 1 2026.

If we get an "I'm contracted ... " statement then I will be very worried about his future at the Dees beyond next season.

Not 100% he won't retire if the injury he sustained keeps causing issues. This would be devastating for him and his health must come first.

Now I'm stressing that this is what he's going to say. Surely not. Though of course health should always come first.

If this was the case I would be positive that this would come out via the club.

Yep I'm fairly sure that if Trac was going to announce his retirement, or his defection to another club, it wouldn't be done at 7pm on 7mate.

It would have been all over the news by now.

There are only 2 options here:

- he comes out and says he's committed to the club

- he comes out with uncommitted fluff and talks mainly about his injury

It smells very much like a calculated PR move from his management.

I think it will be a mix of the 2.

As long as he is healthy I believe that Trac will play for the Demons next year and then it is up to the club to satisfy him that the club is committed to change and that we're heading in the right direction again.

If we don't change and if we in fact go backwards then I'm afraid that we're going to be back here in this thread this time next season. And this time clubs will have had a year to get their affairs in order.

They have as many brain cells as they do teeth.

Is it too early to put up a Deathride Pies thread for season 2025.

If you're not deathriding the Pies every season, you are doing football wrong

I think it will just be the complexity of what he's been going through, hopefully committing to the Dees.

I would be fair shocked and mad if this was a Lebron James kind of interview announcing where he intends to be traded to.

Maybe he’ll even earn back your trust.

God knows we’re all depending on the two of you to patch things up.

That would not go down well in Australia I don't think....

The man we’ve been waiting to hear from coming on the telly at 7pm before the game… perfect way to reward those loyal Dees fans braving the rain and heading to the ground 🫥

Yeah, if he really cared about the true, faithful supporters he'd hire a flatbed truck with a big fat PA system and drive all around the MCG precinct for an hour or so while fans are arriving, followed up by a couple of laps inside the ground all the while announcing his intentions on loop every five minutes.

I'm thinking something along the lines of AC/DC rolling down Swanston Street singing "It's A Long Way To The Top" and wondering if bagpipes might enhance or detract from Tracc's performance.

Wouldn’t expect him to

Just the usual chat he gave the players, why he needed the break

the trauma he went through

what he’s feeling etc

Tracc doesn't need to say anything re whether he is staying or going. The media speculate that he wants to leave and then follow up with comments along the line of the silence is deafening, Tracc has given it momentum etc. I'd prefer he gives the question the respect it deserves and say nothing.

I think this is pretty close to the money. I wouldn't expect much more than this. Hope Dees fans aren't expecting him to be brandishing a Dees4Life neck tattoo.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
