I’m guessing Kozzie is no longer homesick.

As someone from Canberra-proper, yes I am serious.

I will admit that this urge is more anti-Gawn than pro-CP5 but if he puts the work in he has to be considered, otherwise he isn’t worth keeping around.

Why exactly are you anti Gawn?

now just to be absolutely clear, did he say "the" melbourne club or "a" melbourne club

just joshing

best news is i've just got back the next 6 weeks of my life that i nearly lost

though i'll probably need that to just digest wtf was all that

Which goes to show nobody knew what discussions went on between Trac and the club then and now, if he wanted out that would have been done already, I listened to I think Gawn in an interview on MMM and thought yeah he's staying but needed to say what he needed to say, so there goes another media beat up wonder what they will say now he's staying.

Amazing how quickly the goalposts shift from "we're terrible and he'll leave" to "well he clearly WANTS to go but is realistic that it won't happen."

Negative people will always find a way to be negative. The number one thing we needed to do is get Petracca to stay for next year. Once that is achieved, we're in business again as a club.

Either we continue to fall down the ladder next year and Petracca leaves, or we fix our issues and he stays. If he leaves at the end of next year it's very likely because there are huge issues at Melbourne, in which case we'll have bigger problems anyway. If we return to playing winning football the chances he still leaves are pretty low - and even if he does we'll be going ok as a club and will be able to take it in stride.

Anyone besides me wondering if some in the media will now turn on Trac? And keep beating us up.

There’s enough ammunition because of Traccs silence (statement of fact not an allocation of blame) to question if he’s only staying because he couldn’t get a trade.

’Just how committed is Tracc for 2026’ will be the question all year I suspect.

Some people are very hard to please, aren't they?  Enjoy the positive news, comrades.

Catch up on the work not done last week, me anyway

Actually I just realised there's nothing to worry about @KLV. I've just heard a rumor that the Bears are after JVR and putting up that big game player Hipwood as the trade bait.

Anti-Gawn as captain. And it’s nuanced - I would much prefer to let him get the most out of his last few years without the burden.

But, tbh, I have been a captain of a team and a group, and if it got to the point we are at - I would have handed it in already… I know there is a level of Max the Messiah with his AA jackets, flag winning leadership, and his great personality but we are not in a great spot across the group with maintenance of standards and leadership being on completely different pages.

I just think it is time to move on.

That won't really drive many clicks though, so I expect reporting will die down quite a lot until next year. Dees tragics and Melbourne haters will be interested but the vast majority of footy public aren't going to care about a trade that isn't happening this year when finals and this year's actual trades are going on.

So far Petracca has been able to separate his game with his emotions for the club. Despite his issues with club and players it’s never really impacted his game in a negative way. Hoping next season we still see the best of him on the field and his thoughts kept within the club and private.

Cheers mate.
Thanks.
Feeling the love.

Now maybe the football media can start asking some questions about how the pies, the team every journ seemed to think was miles ahead of every other team last year, and set for a dynasty, missed  the finals this year.

Drinking their own bathwater?

Culture issue?

And perhaps ask why they allowed pednles to play with broken ribs foe two weeks

Maybe an article about why noble has requested a trade?

What about their list management - a third of their best 22 are 30 or over.

Perhpas Whately's sanctimony bazooka can be turned on them.

don't forget:

- graham wright taking long service leave
- (dei hire?) clare pettyfour leaving her much ballyhooed football dept role to return to mfc in media and comms role
- craig kelly's impending court case for racist and sexist comments, as well as physical assault
- graham wright not returning to the club after his lsl

i'm sure there's more

Just gotta love these people🤣🤣🤣" I have actual sources. I work in the field". Side splittingly hilarious! Go on, supply those sources. Of course you can't.Like McClure, Morris etc you have none. Meantime I have a source that says you're a Collingwood plant on these boards. Sorry, can't reveal who that is.😘

A great outcome for the club, Tracc and our amazing supporters.

No doubt some changes will follow from this which is a good thing.

We are still holding a core group of really great leaders throughout the FD and list.  In particular our magnificent Captain Max.

The shroud of darkness has just been lifted on the club.

Stay true and believe fellow minions.

Onwards and upwards we go!!

As for a trade not being able to get done. I don’t think that was the case.

Jeremy Cameron went to Geelong for picks 15, 18 & 25.

Dangerfield went to Geelong for picks 9, 28 & Dean Gore.

If Trac still wanted to be traded I think a deal would of gotten done, we wouldn’t of liked it but it would of got done.

Those guys were OOC. We would have asked for more.

I think you’re right, there’s probably ‘consumer fatigue’ about all this for now. But it’s now in a collection of (real or perceived) demons club issue that this will parenthetically be brought up with any negative demons news and/or, slow news days.

Still a lot of club issues to be resolved and one in particular that is going to go through the courts seemingly.

I’m buckling myself in for a big year in 2025 personally.

Canberra—just like this thread. Endless debates that go absolutely nowhere!

Point being mate anyone can say they have a source to support anything.  It's totally meaningless.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
