Thank you for a sensible and somewhat lighthearted view.  This topic and DL need a fair bit of lightheartedness atm.

Hoping your young Jedi is a quick learner!  The sooner he puts on a red and blue jumper the better !!!

We could engage in banter re military history/strategists, modern day footballers and where many other 'Judas' lie but its best I leave that alone!

No point in derailing this thread.

I think Trac should leave.  He almost died and now the club is backgrounding the press to take down his reputation.  Vintage MFC.  It's a weak club run by weak people.  We have a long history of exporting players who go on to have better careers elsewhere and Trac will be no different.  I hope he goes somewhere that wraps there arms around him warts and all and let him play his best footy.   I love the club but save for norm smith getting sacked this has been the darkest week in the clubs history.

That he can make around $350K through paid ig posts and that changing clubs likely won’t change his audience size.

$350k - is that per year?  Holy Moses no wonder everyone wants to be a bloody influencer.

For full transparency I have unfollowed him on instagram and he can have my viewership back when he puts the Melbourne jumper back on.

I understand that players have a limited career, but does his influence will slowly fade as soon he is no longer a footy player?

but in 10,20,30 years time is he going to regret not coming to premiership reunions because he burnt his team mates?

I’m sorry but anyone wanting to be an influencer of any kind really needs to get a life. That word just makes my blood boil, like it’s actually a thing.

Not even sure if that’s related to much, I just hate influencers they are as much a pox on this world as social media…the world is a better place without either of them!

I totally agree but sadly it ain’t going to change.
We have a world wide pandemic of people delusion-ally thinking they will make their fortune and become a big celebrity without having to roll their sleeves up or get off their a….
All by inflicting their nonsense/garbage/dibble on others by tapping their “Smart” 🤣 phone.

Of course that is being said, now that blame for this situation is being aimed at his brand manager, who is very close to him.

All the journos reporting this story have said a major reason for this issue is a desire to play for a big club and improve his brand. That is not something that has just been made up by all of them.

In my opinion, humbly....   I think quite possibly one of the reasons it's seeming hard to nail down the reasons of discontent is that in reality they're secondary.  The PRIMARY  factor as I'm seeing it is to advance Trac5.  Am I saying there's no dissatisfaction?.. no . I'm sure we can all find and voice something about work.

There's just something very wiffy about all of this. I simply think some of thus  is real, some....well.... a construct to suit (😁 and it moves 😉 )

If this is just really about his brand..his "channel"  ... then ... auf wiedersehen... caio baby .

And we'll just see.

Maybe the MFC should go the social media route with negotiating his exit and insist that he promotes the club in every post he does for the rest of his life.

i would assume it's per promotional campaign, so a series of posts / interactions / endorsements

so it would depend on the client and the ambassador as to the level of effort he is required to go to to engage with audiences

This is exactly what Collingwood was so good at in 2022/3 and it helped them win a flag last year, only two years after finishing 17th as a near basket case with only six wins.

Spot on WJ, I think Collingwood managed to turn their vocal supporter base into a competitive advantage. I think when McCrae took the reigns he encouraged the players to be bold and would rather roll the dice and lose by 10 goals than play safe and lose by 1 - 2 goals. They won a few close ones and rode the wave of momentum and crowd support to an unlikely Premiership. At various times in the past couple of years Tracc, Goody, Pert and Roffey have all mentioned the impact a vocal supporter base has on the team.

As negative everything seems right now I don't think we are in that bad a position and can easily bounce back into contention next year. We are too good a team not to and Goody and our leaders have demonstrated time again an ability to challenge - with everything that went wrong this year we were within a kick of Brisbane, GWS and Port when they were in red hot form.

But you could also argue that our worst was really bad.

Thrashed twice by Freo and Collingwood, who didn't make it to the finals, by an average of 50 points.

I unfollowed him...but I have seen his account has grown by 3,000! I'm assuming it's the Carlton and pies supporters... i'm sure once a decision has been made, he might lose all those new followers... or if he does manage to go to the bigger club - gain more! Watch this space!

I said multiple times throughout the year that something was off - yes there were personnel issues, but I think this thing with Trac has been eating away at the whole team all year. It’s a good thing this has all come out as I think it will get addressed now.
