I’d say the footy dept would have comms but far out knowing the severity of his injuries would you not, its relationship 101 stuff!

Agreed.

Its also about showing humanity and compassion to the family of and to a hard working and dedicated servant of the club, at a time when they were enduring unimaginable horrors.

Such behaviours 'walk the talk' of good culture and good culture should start at the top.

Respect begets respect.

Gee the 10yr premiership reunion is going to be a dooozie; better get e ticket now.

And of course the big ticket in town this Sunday is the good old Ringwood RSL (3.30pm)  where what's his name is gonna speak

But will he speak?  Will the words be leaked to the proprietor and then said?

All will possibly be revealed Sunday.  Stay tuned

Yess but if I get injured at work I'd expect my boss to be in regular contact with me.

Yes that’s on Goody and to an extent Richo if that hasn’t actually been the case.  I thing to do with Pert or Roffey to be honest.

Trac - please forgive us 💔💔💔💔💔

Roffey does not represent us. Not meeting or speaking with you is a lack of duty of care.  It’s not in her position description.  It’s in her values and integrity.

We love Trac and this has exposed the leadership at the club.

I think it’s time Petracca puts his big boy pants on and provides a response.

It would help for sure. The reasons why he hasn’t yet as far as I can speculate are:

1. He is waging up his future. Including whether he can facilitate a trade and request one when it becomes a possibility.

2. Similar to above, but is considering the grievance process and doesnt want to make any public statement that may be used against him in a court of law.

3. Using the silence to drive rabid speculation to drive up his clicks and follows

4. Doesn’t think he needs to say anything as he is contracted for 5 more years.

5. Using the silence to scare the [censored] out of the club to make real change.

Kate was more bad than good I'm afraid.

Spent a lot of time trying to convince people she's happy to speak to the media any time and that lots of people are doing lots of work. Very little specifics in terms of the actions that need/are being taken.

Admitted she hadn't spoken to Christian or his family for several months. Our best player, who was somewhere between critically injured and close to dying after playing a game of football in our colours!! Please...!

She just had to have done more than that, herself. Kate should have been able to recount the time and date of the last coversation she had with Christian and when she expects to speak with him again.

Not being able to convince the supporters that she is all over this situation, hands on, is simply not good enough.

Meanwhile other well run clubs are

Focussing on footy and trades and preparing for next season

Mfc are a complete shambles at least the fan club will have an excuse next year for the club  underperforming once again

How many presidents (of organisations/companies) or CEO's contact general staff for injury, trauma, we'll being etc.  I've gone through a traumatic ordeal in the last couple of years far far greater than what he's been through and only my boss reached out to provide support.

And by boss I mean direct manager, and their boss; not the top tier executive!

Your situaton is unfortunate Ungarie. I hope you are ok.

When my dad passed the CEO where I work rang me within 4 hours to offer support and all the time I needed. It was much appreciated and in the scheme of things little effort for him. This is in a company of 3500 employees, admittedly we are known to eachother.

Footy clubs aren't giant organisations and Superstar football players are not office managers.

Kate has completely failed in her duties here. I have become more firm in my view in the 4 hours since the interview.

She must go, ideally stepping down real soon (very sad to say).

Cannot believe anyone thought that Roffey was anything other than appalling and derelict in her duty as the president of our club.

She along with Pert, Richardson and the board need to be given their marching orders. Problems are bigger than Petracca.

She is completely useless.. get rid of her. How on earth hasn’t she checked in with petracca for a few months???? He is your number 1 player who is on the sidelines for an extended time. Schedule a call with him every few weeks to make sure he is ok. Complete incompetence.

HEADS NEED TO ROLE!!!!

Well there you go, I'm not at all surprised

Do the right thing, be loud and proud about it

Do the wrong thing, eerie silence

The plan has been stuck to, by my reckoning.  And stayed on script

It's all very well calling for the heads of everyone (and don't get me wrong... I agree), but who is going to step up? Who has the profile, personality and skills to take on those roles.

Judging by the feedback in other discussions, Demonland members already have issues with Peter Lawrence and what has happened. So who's next ? Who's willing to put their hand up?

And while everyone is looking at another player of ours being incessantly attacked by the Media, the same group are, behind the scenes  making sure that our equal best player, who they well know to be easy to deceive, is conned into thinking that he  hasn't been looked after. There is so much more to this that has to come out. I would include Taylor in this along with the muppets and don't ever forget Moore.

I think Roffey said she hadn't spoken to Traccs parents for a few months, not Trac.

And seriously, they guys nearly 30, you don't need to keep in contact with his parents if you are the president.

And just maybe if they watched the team and not their son she would have and then the crowd would also be bigger and Trac would have his bigger crowds.😂

Pretty damning if Kate Roffey hasn't spoken to Christian Petracca and/or his family in months.

Simply not good enough as President of the Melbourne Football Club.

It may be unpleasant to bring up but do you think Eddie McGuire would do this when he was President of Collingwood?! If Nathan Buckley was injured Eddie would be at his bedside in the hospital!

People can joke about Eddie (and I am not a fan of his) but there is no doubt he cared about his players (at least most of them).

I had mixed feelings to this part of the interview.

From The Age:

Did you do enough during the two weeks following his horrific injury?

'.........So I’m not sure, again, as I say in the media, a lot of this rhetoric around not enough was done, we need to actually sit down and go, ‘What wasn’t done? What would you have liked to have been done? If we didn’t do enough, you know, we can work through that and apologise’. But I’m not entirely sure what the, I don’t believe it relates to medical care, is probably all I can comment on."

  • The Good:  She used the word apologise.
  • The Bad:   Suggests there is a bit of rhetoric happening.
  • The Ugly:  Says 'we need to sit down and ..."

This drama has been on for several weeks and whoever is 'we' hasn't yet sat down and asked those questions!.

Its like Nero fiddles while Rome burns!

She needs to put a rocket under whoever 'we' is to sit down with Trac and get answer to the questions she poses and if necessary apologise.  At least get the story from the horses mouth which apparently she doesn't have or isn't telling.

They well might be.

But tracc is a 29 year old adult, not some naive draftee fresh out of high school.

Let's not infantalise him.

If he acts on bad advice that's on him, not the people giving him the advice.

I am 72 and I know for sure maturity is not gauged by age I didnt grow up until i was 45 think Tracc might be in my boat

That was going to be my question. Im not close to the club in this sense, but i suppose it doesn't have to be a club person. Do we have a go at luring Graham Wright as a club CEO from the Pies - has massive wraps.

No idea for President though. Do they usually go to "Melbourne" people or anyone that has great board credentials.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

The media is determined to bring Melbourne down , no matter what is said or inferred.

They will create their own spin based on their own pre judgement.

We are on a hiding to nothing and sometimes the less said the better.

Kate fronted the media, probably because of the multitude of calls to end the silence, but it looks like it has backfired on her.

I don’t think she will be doing it again anytime soon.

Keep them guessing and don’t honour them with a response.

The only one who should be making their position clear in all this is Trac himself.

These conversations have absolutely taken place, but it sounds like she was neither involved nor informed of them.

Or perhaps she was, and doesn't want to speak about what was said, which if that is the case, she has no idea how to speak publicly.

Very easy to say "we have had conversations around this, we apologized to Christian and anyone in his life who felt they were not looked after properly, and put measures in place to ensure it does not happen again. However I will not be divulging the rest of the conversation as I am mindful of its private nature". End.

As I keep saying over and over again, it's not what you say but how you say it.
This PR disaster speaks to so many people who just have no understanding of how you manage a brand!

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
