What is this?

Disrupted train services will still be a factor but at least the hypothermia threat of a fortnight ago isn't there. Despite the woeful performance last week surely we get mid 20K.

Protecting his record  ?

We play the 2 filth sides in the last 3 weeks. Would love to put them to the sword.

I heard the carpark was closed tonight?

Both teams definitely have the most feral supporters. Remember that picture from our victory at Adelaide Oval? Golden memories 🤣

So much to unpack, so little time. 😅

You are right. I just checked MCC website. I don't know why it would be closed to the public this week, can't be weather related.

If you haven’t read yesterday’s training thread, firstly: why not? Secondly: the post by forever demons will make sense. It won’t make perfect sense but it won’t seem as [censored] up. 😁

Yeah, disastrous. I've had an op on my foot and will have to limp from some random spot in Richmond instead of East Melbourne.

I had fully intended to attend tonight's match.

However, I am instead going to a celebration of life event for Bonnie the cat, who passed away a few days ago at the age of 18. Her owner (a Demons supporter) and her family are heartbroken. I hope that is a good enough excuse.

C'mon Dees ... do it for Bonnie!

Hey Bingers, wishing Bonnie’s owner all the best, but please hold off with your explanation ‘til tonight’s postgame What’s Your Excuse? thread. TIA

Right, okay, thanks for this.

Good test tonight to see if this group are still playing for their coach after a really poor performance last week and a poor couple of months. Unsure how it plays out, but gut tells me a 40-50 point drubbing just purely based on midfield form.

Too much information.

Gosh I wish we were playing this afternoon.  What a perfect day.

At least it's not wet & freezing like it was 2 weeks ago.

Hope we get a good crowd. I have no expectations anymore. I'll just enjoy watching the kids play.

Our backline will have a huge hole without may

I am usually optimistic, but the past few weeks have seen my optimism stretched to the point where I’m happy that we’ll not put in as bad a performance against Port as did the Swans!

if we do win I’ll be over the moon, but failing that, I’m hopeful that the likes of Jefferson and Verrall etc might get games in the final two rounds.

Unfortunately I think this will be a clearance demolition by Port tonight which will result in a large inside 50 differential and our defence will suffer. There’s only so much a defence can hold up against when the players up ahead of the ball are the 18th ranked group in clearance.

Port by 9 goals and the media heat to come on Melbourne’s appointment of McQualter.

Reckon we're half a chance tonight ❤️💙

Two sides..surely both have half a chance?

I actually think this will be much closer than what people are expecting.

Port by 78 points in a tight one.

I just wanna sing our song after a match at least one more time this season. 🥹

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
