It shows how loyal our supporters are, I genuinely thought we'd struggle to get 10k there today considering our supporters disdain for the venue and the form of the team.

Is there a case to be made for quality over quantity in this post-St-Kilda, Docklands-vibe instance? Two things:

1. Standing at the exit from Spencer Street station (I'm an oldster) for a quarter of an hour or so just before the start I was struck by the variety of evident Demons streaming past, particularly youngish people, and very particularly families with young kids, all very happy to be decked out in the red and the blue (in some degree of answer to those who last week saw a generation of Demons lost to ridicule and bullying during the week). Something of a resilient future there?

2. Per my earlier post, the noise was not a 16,000-level noise.

Fair call on the raw numbers, though: in 2025 the Eagles are 4th on the 2025 average attendances (and Freo are 3rd - so maybe there's a bit of a WA 'footy starvation' factor there?) But we're not too shabby in 8th place, ahead of Hawthorn and Geelong, notably)

West Coast games are Perth’s version of cultural enrichment — because once you’ve stared at a mining boom, overpriced avo toast, and a skyline designed by a bored accountant, watching a bottom-four team get thumped starts to feel like high art. It’s not loyalty, it’s Stockholm syndrome with a membership scarf.

TRAB, it helps when you have 100,000 members to get good attendance figures. I noticed WC pointed this fact out on their banner yesterday - I guess you cannot blame them for boasting about something.

Honestly, 16k aint bad, with half the train lines on replacement buses, that would have kept a few away including myself.

I'm mildly surprised that more than 10k turned up yesterday, to be honest. All things considered, 16k is a decent result

Especially against a VFL standard team with the match being played at Docklands. It was a nothing match unless we lost the game

Never understood the Marvel/Docklands hate. Pretty cosy stadium and when packed, the atmosphere is just as good as any stadium in the country. The last non Melbourne match I attended was in 2011 when Collingwood came back from 40 to beat Adelaide, and it is honestly one of the better atmospheres I have ever experienced as far as following this sport is concerned.

As for Docklands itself, when I lived at Docklands Drive before Covid, I had nothing but a good time. Costco, cycling friendly, short tram ride into the city, vibes were pretty good on Friday Nights when there was a game there and ain’t too busy, so easy to get around.

Like most things on social media these days, fake outrage seems to be the norm and everything needs to be torn apart with massive negativity taking over.

Touching on Jones appointment. The main issue I have with his appointment was that he hadn't worked in any other system. I imagine it had some new ideas, the most obvious one being bringing Kozzie into the mix. However, he didn't go look and coach in other successful midfield system and then bring them back adjusted to his own ideas. As far as I know it was retirement, media midfield coach.

Hence why was have run pretty much the same system all year with the same results. Know what I don't know if Goodwin not following his advice to change the mix till this week?

It's not bad, easy to get to and seats are pretty good no matter where you are. I hate being indoors on a sunny day and nothing will beat the G but it's not bad as an alternative venue. I presume a large part of the hate from Melbourne supporters comes from the MCC members who don't have the same access or facilities at Docklands.
