You have to be pleased with Caleb Windsor signing,

Skillful, balanced, fast, accurate kick, does not panic.   Like tulip,  a reason to go and watch.

Great news.  He’s shown great pace and talent.

Dees need to get busy in this years draft and find more young talent.  There are more skilled pacy players to add to our squad.

After what we went though 10-15 years ago with players wanting out, player retention under this regime has been exceptional. Windsor is a het, the goals he's kicked against Port, Essendon and Freo were sublime. Hard to think he's only in his first season, imagine him with a few preseasons under his belt. I'm imagining the running power of Langdon but with a bit more polish.

In a year or 2 I can see him getting a run in the midfield. The midfield is currently a bit 'one paced' and he will offer outside run and skill. A bit like Sam Walsh perhaps?

He’ll be better.

Any time a top 5 player in the side commits is a good thing. Definitely an up and coming AA level player. Most definitely the best talent I have seen at the club in the 35 years I’ve been supporting us.

Petty is a super important signing and can’t wait with another preseason and confidence in his body watching lots of people eat their words whatever end of the ground we play him at.

I cant wait to see the footballer Windsor evolves into by 2028 and would not surprise if by then a re-rank of the 2023 draft  shows him on top.

Great vote of confidence in the club, goody and the direction we're going.

What odds Harley Reid signs a four year extension at the Eagles?

Top work Tom Lamb.

Who’s Tom Lamb?

Not sure. Tim's brother?

Call me crazy, but it's hard not to watch Windsor go about it and think at some stage he will captain the club. Has a Robbie Flower level ceiling as a player in my opinion.

Got him signed up very early. He would have been on a 3 year contact already as top 10 pick. Great news.

Has been a great pick up. A perfect draft pick really- filled a need for us, has been able to have an instant impact and has potential to be one of the best players in the league.
Well done to all involved.

After all the doom and gloom I was rapt to open up Demonland this morning to hear this fantastic news. The future looks bright ❤️💙

Great news, one of the better stories of '24. Future AA. High ceiling. Speed, endurance, great skills and lightning quick decision making and not affraid to win a hardball or tackle. Love what this kid brings to the team already, going to be a star 🌟 ! Well done MFC!

Great news about Windsor. Props to the club, I've been pretty impressed with the ability to sign-up the majority of our players in that under 23ish~ bracket.

Fingers crossed we get an extension on Tholstrup's contract announced soon too.

Brilliant news! Windsor is one of the best talents we've had come through in many years. He's filled a gap for us immediately with his speed and outside running both ways. His kicking can be inconsistent when he rushes at times, but with more experience his composure will keep growing and he'll become even more damaging.

Long term he's got scope to be a gun midfielder. He's already shown great defensive effort and ability to win his own ball. With Gus retiring, Trac and Clarry entering the later years of their careers, Viney within years of retirement, we need our next wave of mids as depth and then to take over. Windsor will be the next star mid to take up the reigns. JT has nailed another one here.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?

After kicking the first goal of the match the Demons were always playing catch up against the Saints in Alice Spring and could never make the most of their inside 50 entries to wrestle back the lead.
