Why would you start Salem in the middle instead of Rivers??

Rivers is a mile ahead in the middle.  SG has seriously lost the plot this season for mine.

Goodness that was a nothing kick by Viney.

Eddie Langdon a mile off sharp, unusual for him.

Did he peel inside to cover a mid?

either way, disturbing

Losing heart in this club.

They just don't seem to have enough ticker.

That's about right, high intensity for about 30 seconds, high line up the ground, turnover, goal.

How aren’t we manning up!!!!????????

Or Kosi who is an actual game turner and has speed to spread!
Or Nibbler who can tag!?

This is embarrassing. It’s like we don’t know how to play against Freo… so weird to watch

Can't wait to hear the diehard Goody selection judgement nuffies and non-ruck apologists who insist that rucks don't impact clearance and post clearance posession numbers.

No, it's not just on our lack of talls around the ruck contest (it's all over the ground) but it sure does start us on the back foot.

This is actually pathetic. How is nobody defending???? What the actual [censored] is this?

ANOTHER GOAL OUT TGE BACK!!

ARE WE RETARDED!?!

How are we so [censored] bad

how do they have one out the back every time??????

Jack doesn't want to give it Chandler because Chandler is terrible and I don't blame him

Great way to stay in the game Chandler, just stand there and ball watch while pointing at the goals.

Time to time out folks.

Players have.

Shame we didn't turn up again.

Finals birth iffy.

We are 6 (now 7) goals down

MAN

UP

FFS

Viney selfish footy resulting in a goal

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
