I'd say its because at the moment its only the cats who are interested in him. You would have heard by now if other clubs were sniffing around.

If we’re to believe him, forces higher up are about to strip him of a club champion. A champion who he believes he can still manage and return him to his best form. 

So either that’s not how he really feels, or the club are officially saying they have no confidence he can. 

This all fits in with the notion that one of Goodwin’s characteristics is being “mates” with the players. 

I can’t help but be reminded of the teachers I had in high school who wanted to be “in” with the students (“the ones who’d say “None of that ‘mister’ stuff, call me Steve”). You liked them but you didn’t fear them, and you were often trying to find out where the boundaries actually were. 
 

 

You'd wonder if Roos would have managed it differently. 
He had the ultimatum 12 months ago and despite some injuries and fitness problems, by all accounts was putting his head down and doing his best.

Then bang, he's out.

I mentioned it a hundred pages ago, but look at Brisbane. In complete dissaray at the start of the season with infighting between players and partners after the vegas trip and then Fagan and the FD seemed to straighten it out and they win a flag.
I betchya he was not their mate.

I am going to miss watching him play for the Dees and loathe watching him come good for the cats.
The FD department at Jeelong must have complete faith in their coaches to bring Smith and Oliver in. They must truly believe in their systems to get these guys to knuckle down when it's required.

Clarry was a pure joy to watch when he was on song. Just lightening fast. Quite the tragedy for our club.

Relying on high draft picks to save our club is a farce. 

I'm feeling very Neeldy.

I am furious now! I was originally a big supporter of Gary Pert as CEO! I thought the Collingwood rumours were rubbish.

This is the final straw!

We are the ones pushing Oliver out… not him wanting out. It seems that dees football department are willing to both take a salary hit and sub standard draft picks to get him out the door. Very depressing

We would need Geelong's 1st and 2nd round pick plus their next year's   1st round pick. We could bundle up all these picks for an early 1 st round pick. However this is not going to happen because Geelong's 1st rounder is going to the Dogs for Bailey Smith. An alternate would be Oliver renegotiates his salary for less plus less time. We then can accept Geelong's @nd rounder and a future 1St plus a player. None of this is going to happen.

Don’t think we did shop him to Cats. Cats have been lurking for some time, when Clarry had an initial meeting with Cats (which is what apparently surprised the Dees) Pert spoke to other clubs to see if there was a market.

Clearly Geelong is not our trade partner of choice.

There is absolutely no way pert didn’t consult the football department on this. Makes no sense as it doesn’t form part of a cohesive strategy. Unless the club comes out and says so I wouldn’t believe any other report

Jhye Clark is a local Geelong boy and alongside Bruhn and Holmes would be seen as their emerging future midfielders.  Its likely to be a No.

Didn’t Pert call around GF week though? Does that mean Clarry met Geelong earlier than that?

The question has to be why are they so desperate to get him out? What has he done? Maybe then.. we can except this?

my mate goes for Geelong. He doesn’t know how the deal gets done but suggested Clark could be the sacrifice.  Injuries not been kind to the lad though.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
