Of course i’m not saying that. Some are true, some half true, some don’t give context to the full truth but they don’t give a rats

Oliver got 30 touches round 1, and 35 (and 3 Brownlow votes) in round 2.

No one at VFL was going to outperform Oliver this year.

Whether he had "served" his penalty is a different story, but on performance he may not have been the Oliver of old but he was better than any of our depth would have been.

Yet had we made him continue to do a block of pre season training and made a statement after the Lorne incident with a multiple game ban as other clubs did with Stevie J, Heath Shaw and Michael Walters in the past we may well have

1. Got his fitness at a level which would have lasted for the remainder of the season

2. Set a standard and message to the playing group that poor behaviour would not be tolerated

3. Made a decision which didn’t cause division within the playing group over preferential treatment

4. Long term view but we may not be in the current situation had we chosen action as opposed to talking tough

the depth at Casey had done the work in the preseason to be fit to play AFL. Goodwin and others selected Oliver when he had not done the work and was not fit to play AFL and this was exploited by his opponents who knew they could outspread him, and the more they ran, the further he'd be behind them.

Couldn't agree more.  And this again shows he's treated differently to others.  I don't care how good he was/is - he needed to have several months of hard work to get back into that team. Instead he trained for 5 minutes and never missed an AFL game.

Some rumours for the media mob to follow up:

1. Max is about to leave for Ireland to play Gaelic football for Galway.

2. OIiver's proposed move is a cunning ploy by Goodwin to destroy the Cats from the inside.

3. Bowey is unhappy because his request to play at full forward has been rejected.

4. May and Melksham have lined up a UFC fight to see which one stays at the club next season.

5. Kozzie wants out because of the Melbourne weather.

PS:  No 5 might be true.

The media spin their tweet wheel:

Oliver wants out

Demons tell Oliver to look for a trade

Demons want to keep Oliver

Oliver to Cats is a virtual certainty

Oliver still loves MFC and wants to stay

Give it a spin Tom! This is an actual job but don’t worry you don’t need any sources and if you’re wrong it doesn’t matter!

That’s just absolute rot. He got Brownlow votes, he was fine

Wrong.
Clarry was gassed by the Second Quarter. I don’t take any notice of the Brownlow

I admire the loyalty to the club, I really do, but don't let it blind you and make you out to be a fool. This constant blaming the media instead of holding leaders at the club accountable reminds me of the Essendon supporters response to their doping program.

its not me with any loyalty to the club, i simply said there is no way a CEO of football has done the ring around. there is numerous, 3+ player management roles within the club, and the CEO is definitely not one of them

All this argument about what punishment Clayton should’ve would’ve could’ve had.
The time is gone, cutting off our nose to spite our face now will not help.

I’m glad he’s staying, he makes us a better team, his form dropped against Port when he hurt his hand and never recovered. We’re a better team with him, Geelong are worse without him and we’ve missed out on a 2026 pick which wouldn’t have helped us next year anyway. I don’t care what the media say, their bias against us is clear. Maybe our club is a dumpster fire, maybe it’s not. There’s actually been very little concrete proof. I’m backing Clayton in for a huge 2025 and with a bit of luck with injuries and our young blokes improving, + pick 5 a new forward and mid coach and some cobwebs cleared out in the program we’ll be a formidable team.

By the same token if you believe everything that is in the media you certainly are delusional.

Dees not trading him, will address it at the B&F

Cats only prepared to take his full (or close to full) contract if he came cheap via trade

Why did he do that PF? Or why did the Club pick him then? Either Clarry or the Club cannot / don’t deserve to use that excuse.

PS I assume you won’t be leaving us now PF?

Well Crisis Management must not be the General Manager for Media and Comms forte.

lol

the way the media are heading, most clubs will need to hire a dedicated crisis manager ... or just do a deal with the bikies

I love the way you spell ‘Carrryst’ PF. It really helps me get in character when I read out your posts in my head.

The last 2 months have been brutal on so many fronts.  So many poor choices by the club and grade 1 level of communication to members and supporters.  But we need to move to looking forward - hoping Thomas Fullers famous quote is correct starting tomorrow - “ the darkest hour is right before the dawn”. - and the Paul Kelly addition - “ and in the hour of greatest slaughter the great avenger is being born…”.    Eyes forward now

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
