This is everything I hate about AFL media.

This topic is only relevant, let alone a distraction, because of the media and Cornes himself in particular.

FWIW…

On Sunday I spent the halftime break with The Wiz and his mob and for the most part we talked about the Quairading - Going Home video (if you’ve not watched it, you really should).

Jeff loves the video. He said that Kozzie’s mob will forever consider Goody and Clarrie and Shano part of their family, and that’s huge.

In particular, the part where Clarrie piggybacks Kozzie’s grandmother up the hill is immense. As Jeff explained it, and I’m paraphrasing, it meant the world to Nan to be able to be up at that special spot at the top of the hill, the very spot where Kozzie and his cousins spent many carefree days swimming and playing  and all the while Nan would be watching and enjoying seeing them so happy. But… she wasn’t able to walk up the hill without assistance and maybe it’s a cultural thing, but she wouldn’t ask for, nor expect, assistance. No-fuss-Claz without any ado just did it.

I asked Jeff what he thinks lies ahead for Clarrie. He believes Clarrie will remain a Demon. As I said, for what it’s worth. 🤷‍♀️

Great news.Thanks.

l presume the Wiz is Jeff Farmer ?
I was at the game when he kicked 9.1 against the Magpies.

Exactly.

Media - creates noise.

Also media - this distraction is effecting the club

I can’t find the post but part of it said we need Clarry and he needs us.

l think he does need us.The club has been his support group since he left his country family to come and live in Melbourne.

He has team of mates at the club.

l think he has said early this year he doesn’t want to leave the MFC.

He ain’t goin nowhere.

UNLESS for some dumb reason the club moves him on.

Yea me too. I was young but remember him getting dragged after little to no touches to half time and then came back on to bang in a massive haul. What a memory

Crazy day…. a great demon memory that one. He kicked 9 after half time! He didn’t come bk on until about 5 mins into the third when Beams broke his wrist. 9 straight and then he missed one. 9.1

FWIW, in the same radio segment where he said Houston’s likely to come back to Melbourne, Peter Ryan also said his “intel” is that Clarry’s going nowhere.

He should have been dragged when he kicked that point!

Not sure I’m against it.

You watched a different game to me. Still our highest possession gatherer despite being below his best. Tried his heart out for a player apparently tradeable and has checked out. A Melbourne great. Prepare for the fact that he is a Demon for life and I'm rapt. If anyone is not there is not much to say.

...Ryan is more believable than most.

After what was without a doubt his best game for the year?

You have NFI.

I saw enough tonight to suggest this guy can be his best again with a full pre season.

Tonight we saw those weaves and evading traffic moves, also the way he would U-turn out of a contest (Something I always thought he and Nathan Jones did so well).

Ran out of legs late but on a cold and dewy night there was enough there.

Way too many ‘contests’ like this. Is it physical or mental?

Stance way too high, no power in the legs, on his wrong side to begin with too I guess (Viney would do better digging in to Green with his left but Oliver would then have to cover Bedford’s speed), then painfully slow to react to the hit out and beat out the front of the stoppage.

Does a preseason fix this or is this an undisciplined player who abandons basic technique and stoppage responsibilities?

love how the “highlight” shows a massive push in the back with the ump only 10m away and does nothing about it.

Another case of Laura Kane coming out and saying “the wrong decision was made” and simply moving on to next week without batting an eyelid.

This game has seriously gone to [censored].

That is seriously the most blatant push in the back I’ve seen for the year. Horrible non call.

Same ump that paid the Greene dive and missed a lot of easy calls.

The big name umps love getting their egos in the game but they usually pay the simple stuff correctly.

This guy looked fresh out of VAFA c grade and needs to be send back there.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
