"is it true" is a pretty poor way to start a rumour thread. Its even worse than "I've heard a whisper" . Who is Sam Faff for a start.

I refuse to raise my hopes. But I cant help it...they've just been frikn raised. Curse you Sam Faff!

You can keep Allan

Very interested in Allen though ;)

Silly season's started early :)

Is it true that this thread has sparked my interest?

reckon sam is barking up the wrong tree / looking at the wrong meth coke key forward

i thought it was waterman we'd made a decent off to?

Hmm it does say Captain.....

Either would work for me,

Would be perfect as shown on Sunday. Given he is still in contract and an RFA at the end of 2025 wondering what it would take to get him? F1 & FFI? Playing as a 26 year old next season it would have to be a 5 year contract on money commensurate to Angus',  perhaps even North of that. Does he ruck at all?

Liam Duggan is co-captain with Allen.  He is a Victorian so more likely than Allen who hails from WA.

WCE website on Duggan:

The highly respected clubman was elevated to co-captaincy alongside Oscar Allen in a changing of the guard at the end of 2023, following several impressive seasons as a tough and reliable on-field contributor. A beacon of consistent effort, Duggan was deployed through the midfield and in his more traditional defensive role depending on need as injuries hit hard, and was rewarded with his first podium placing (third) in the John Worsfold Medal while also receiving Life Membership after notching 150 games in blue and gold. In three of the past four years, Duggan has finished top-five in the Club Champion count and the 27-year-old is charged with helping to lead the young Eagles squad back towards more familiar territory at the higher end of the ladder. At a glance: Junior club: Bacchus Marsh (VIC). Debut: Round 2, 2015. Recruited from: Western Jets (VIC), Brownlow votes: 2.

A good candidate for the Brayshaw role, perhaps and cover for other star midfielders.  The 'bold' part could be a description of what Gus meant and means to us and how he played.

I might add he is OOC this year and is an Unrestricted FA ie can go wherever he likes and WCE can;t match.  No trade required.

Would be a great get.

Two Oscars for an Oscar.

1. Oscar McDonald busted knee and all is at least ‘Way out West’ 🎸

2. Oskar Baker has the matinee idol looks and is definitely west of the Maribyrnong.

Love for it to happen. But doubt even the Hollywood dream machine could concoct this fantasy.

would take him 100%

I wouldn’t be starting a thread based on a tweet from one of the worst people on footy twitter who’s paid for his blue tick.

I don’t think the Eagles would ever entertain moving Allen. Worst case scenario as a restricted free agent in 2025 you match the deal and force a trade or accept a low compo pick. But he’s their young star, captain etc.

The Waterman story has more legs. They low-balled him last year and his brother has already played in Melbourne. Whilst they have the cap room they probably don’t need 2 star forwards in a deep rebuild and there’s less guarantee that he backs up this years out of the box run of form next year. If they get a deal good enough (and it would have to be really good) I could see them moving him now.

So who will start the Liam Duggan Thread ?  🙃🤷‍♀️

The ‘sauce’ also says he will become the highest paid player in the game so he’s not referring to Duggan

Duggan seems much more likely than a guy who grew up in Perth.

It’s 99.9% made up but no one is removing their coach for Liam Duggan.

He just played wing for most of the game and Windsor and Langdon were 2 of the best on ground

No sympathy for this powerhouse club that prior to the soft cap was spending $300k a week more than Melbourne - $15m a year

They tanked after their drug-tainted 2006 flag to get the wooden spoon in 2010, were runner up in 2015 won a flag in 2017 and now back on the bottom of the ladder. People have short memories.

Long may it continue

Thanks.  Didn't see that anywhere.  Do the Eagles have anyone worth that much ... ?

Still Duggan would be a good get as an UFA?

So does our alleged offer to Waterman a strategic one to land Waterman or unlock Allen? Interesting timing that this comes out...

Honestly would be shocked if Allan was to leave. But I would also pay an arm and a leg for him.

Allan and Roo up forward is a premiership combo right there, with Kosi and Fritta. Yes please x 100.

There were certainly rumours last year of us supposedly reaching out to Allen's management as there was some talk he was bit disgruntled with the club and us apparently set to offer a monster deal.

Could be some truth to this. Not that I think this will grow any more legs pr eventuate, but I have no doubt we've probably done some background check.

  • PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

With both sides precariously positioned ahead of the run home to the finals, only one team involved in Sunday’s clash at the Adelaide Oval between the Power and the Demons will remain a contender when it’s over.  On current form, that one team has to be Melbourne which narrowly missed out on defeating the competition’s power house Collingwood on King's Birthday and also recently overpowered both 2024 Grand Finalists. Conversely, Port Adelaide snapped out of a four-game losing streak with a win against the Giants in Canberra. Although they will be rejuvenated following that victory, their performances during that run of losses were sub par and resulted in some embarrassing blow out defeats.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
