Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know this is harsh on ND at this stage but I thought it would be interesting to get a feel for where popular opinion is at.

So vote away:

a) Voss

B) Sheedy

c) Longmire

d) McKenna

e) Pagan

f) G Lyon

g) Sumich

h Ratten

i) N Daniher

j) Williams (Sandy)

k) Neitz - captain/coach

l) Other - name your other

Of course the list assumes that some coaches such as Pagan will be available.

Anyhow, ND or one of the others?

P.S. Sheedy ain't my vote. Can't figure out the little dude with sunnies thing!

As much as I think we need a new coach, I really don't care about replacements at the moment.

I just want to see the club win a few games, and fighting week in week out.

At the end of the season, if the club goes through its review, and decides that ND is still the right man for the job, then I will accept that.

Until then, I'm just going to keep on turning up and cheering, and hoping the team can turn things around!

Can you imagine what Sheeds would do with our list and something to prove? And he would not tolerate ANY kind of softness - mental or physical. Thomas, German or Ratten would be ok.

Essendon are having a long hard look at Pagan. (From a c'tee member).

The more I hear Sheedy speak, the more I think he is now just a senile old man!

No thanks!

Interesting to note that Mckenna was rated last when interviewed for the saints gig.

After seeing how the coaching went over the week end I am convinced that Mark Willams the Sandy coach will NOT become the MFC coach under any circumstances!!

Obviously NO good. Sandy didn't win!! (NOTE: didnt play!)

Apparently Mark's lack of coaching ability was evident at TEAC oval (Pt Melb) where he filled in s bit of time coaching the Vic side. had the squad for about 3 or 4 days according to the TV commentators who thought they Vcs played like they had been together all year as a side. Won by around 119 points I think ( & got to 130 up half way thru last qtr).

Clearly MFC would consider sucha coach. What would we do with a coach who doesn lose!!

Gary O'Donnell

5 years under Leigh Matthew, during Brisbane's premiership years, and two under Sheedy.

Premiership Captain and B&F winner renowned for his work ethic.

He has the playing credentials and significant 'apprenticeship' time under two of the best coaches of the modern era. He is also extremely well presented, speaks well and is infinitely more marketable than many on that list above.

yeah forgot thomas

ive liked what ive heard him say on sen and have realised he was a better coach than i gave him credit for

Let's face it, our last on-field leader of merit was the great Todd Viney.

Our leadership 'team' of the past 7 or so years has been developed around who the best palyers are, henece a regular few ins and outs.

IMO our continuous form slumps, losing streaks during good years, and losses from winning positions indicate this is a glaring weakness.

I reckon Thomas will fix that.

It is harsh on ND. He's still the man in the job. Any decisions should be made following a full season review, not mid-season.

Having said that, if push comes to shove at the end of the year and the coaching position becomes vacant, I don't want some old coach with baggage. I wouldn't touch Sheedy, Thomas, Pagan (or any other fanciful but recycled proposition like Blight) with a barge pole.

My criteria would be someone new who has done an apprenticeship as an assistant, and who comes from a recently successful power club so we can gain the advantage of how a top-tier club develops players, administers the football department and organises on-field.

I back the Rev 100%. Rohan Connolly from The Age backs me up:

Melbourne has had poor seasons before under Daniher, whose contract with the club expires at the end of the season. It finished as low as 14th in both 1999 and 2003. But in neither of those years did the Demons deal with the level of injury and bad luck they have in 2007.

You have got it all wrong.

Here are my top 3

1) Peter Sumich: Has been under Woosha for 5 years and he WANTS to coach. Plus Woosha wants him to coach so why not?

2) Don Pyke: Not many people know who he is but he played in 2 West Coast premierships and has coached in the WAFL. He has been an assistant coach with Adelaide over the past 4 years. He was also very close to getting the job at the saints.

3) Longmuire - Don't know how he didnt get the job at the saints but he would make Melbourne tougher but boring. We will have to ajust to the swans style of game if he is successfull.

Thanks for the memories Daniher but it's time to go.

Good Luck, Have Fun & Go Dees!

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
