Christy, has Binman brainwashed this many people?

On what basis do you 'expect' our fitness to look much better?

Freo, Collingwood, North.. Which one were we 'bouncing' for?

Or is it this one?

Only started posting a few days ago and already he’s potting those of us with “toxic positivity” as he puts it. (Apparently I’m an incarnation of Saty 🤷‍♀️ which I may find offensive, if I knew who tf Saty is.) But now he’s taken it up a level… bagging Binman.

Binman is brainwashing folks according to this guy. Give me a [censored] break.

Anyways, I have a good feeling about tonight. All you peeps who took the Dees at $5+ enjoy your plentiful winnings! 🎉🥳❤️💙

More a reflection of Brisbane's form or ours? I reckon we'd be rank outsiders at the MCG as well.

A little from Column A and a little from Column B, Praha?

Yeah I’m not on board the loading train. Have only ever seen us look bad which gets blamed on loading and I’m yet to see any of the supposed benefit where we come out the other side looking fresh. If we’re putting heavy loads in during the week when we’re sitting outside the 8 and can’t afford to drop a single game the fitness staff should get the bullet.

For me it’s a combo of new gameplan where players aren’t in the right spots and have to do more work to compensate, Clarry & Petty not having preseasons, young players not having the fitness base, bad turnovers catching us out of position and doing more tail chasing. All of that makes us look slow and tired cos we are.

Tell your friend to put $ on the Dees with gay abandon. Tell them to take out a loan if possible. And tell them from me: “you’re welcome” 😝

On Fox Footy this morning they were replaying highlight packages from previous encounters between Melbourne and the Lions. The one of most interest was the 2021 qualifying final, we moved the ball quickly (not like Collingwood do now but quicker than we do currently) we would take a mark at half back or on the wing and we would turn and go kicking towards CHF before turning and kicking to a less congested fwd line. Our small fwd were at the drop of the ball and our pressure was immense. Anyway that seems like a lifetime ago now…..

We had trust in Brown, Tmac and Fritta to win marking duals and or bring it to ground with our small fwd setup.

Going on previous seasons, if we were loading and the week before the North game was the last week of the 6 week loading cycle then....

We might cover the ground better tonight.

It's a big If though. 🫣

Yep. If the Lions win I stand to make the princely sum of $1.70 😃 Doesn’t sound like much, that’s coz it’s not. But I don’t wanna tempt fate by not backing against us. For the likes of Brisbane I only blow $10 or $20. Vs Collingwood I’m happy to squander $50. And the big ‘un… Essendon, that’s when I’m very happy to kiss $100 goodbye. A win against Essendon usually sees me living on 2-minute noodles for a spell. But by god, it’s sooooo worth it.

For some reason I think we’ll take it right up to them. Surely the coaching staff have learnt from the previous encounters on how to face Brisbane. Press up on them hard and don’t let them get their kicking game going. Make it a scrap, keep it in tight and beat them at the contest. This Brisbane side is the worst in the comp at defending ball movement and the Saints put on 100 on them 2 weeks ago. They were the best scoring side in 2021 and 2022 and for 4 of those games we kept them to 60pts each time. Our defence isn’t a whole lot different to those years. Payne is also a big loss for them.

I think if we can limit their scoring we are right in this.

What has changed since 2021. Everything was working so well that year in our ball movement. Why did we tinker/regress. Did we become less bold, less risk taking.

i love the optimism some have - wish i could be more like that. BUt i cant see how we come closer than 5 goals. Their forward line is on fire atm and they outclass us in the middle.

In 2021 the theme was to embrace imperfection and in that was the willingness to take calculated risks. Now, we seem to scared to do it.

should have said he/she /them/they/it/we/us

Not super confident we will get up tonight but hopeful we will be competitive. If we can’t get up things I’m hoping to see are-

Clarry finding a way to be effective with a tag. Either going to Neale as others have suggested or going to half forward and having an impact.

Rivers having a good game in the middle.

Kolt to have a big game. Rising star nomination would be the dream scenario but just building on last weeks performance and getting a bit more involved for longer and I’d be happy.

AMW to start and not look out of place. Doesn’t need to play a blinder just play his role and build his confidence.

Go Dees

I’m not sure the masses are listening to you WCW. We have drifted out to $6 now. All the better for those who do put the house on it I guess.

I don't see this game as season defining. I think the last 6 weeks have defined our season,

I have re-calibrated my expectations for the season and so am not so nervous about tonight. I will just cheer the boys on and enjoy it as much as possible

I think we will lose but have a good physical and defensive crack. Their fire power from midfield and fwd will be far too good for us in this form.

If we win somehow, I won't change my opinion on us. Still in the 5-10th place bracket.

Lions are third favourite for the flag imo

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
