Bizzell

Was our warrior in the backline today. Absolute fantastic game. I always knew this guy still had something in him. Fightback in the last quarter was ignited by him imo, along with Jones. Ran it out of half back wonderfully. Set up 3 goals in the last.

agreed that bizzel would be better than ward.

would rather cj ahead of both of them. and brown as well.

time to give the kid some game time so he is more experienced. unfortunately its time to look to next season. and while im not a fan of tanking, i would rather CJ had some more experience so he may be able to give us something next year.

His offensive work when we were on the fly was good.

However, had his opponent Corey Jones made us pay and not missed easy shots in 2.3 it might have been different.

He is still too loose in defense.

Better than his average.

Great game to the Bizz

strong hands

Held down the back

Made good decisions

Hope he can retain his spot in the side for the rest of the year and play some good footy

agree, the bizz was good. could have sworn i thought the siren would go when he took that mark in the backline

I said as much to the people I was sitting with and then was told there was 2 and a half minutes to go :(

Great game by Bizz. Courageous as ever and should stay in at least until Rivers is fit and up and playing well.

A lot of people seem to think they are.

They are wrong. Rivers has taken the key CHB role in most roles. Bizz has played off a HBF.

Do you (or they) know who Bizzell played on this week?

Corey Jones.

Rivers would not be wasted on a Corey Jones.

Thanks Rhino, I was wondering if someone was going to bring it up. Ward and Bizzell in the same side is a half forward's wet dream. I'm not out to bag the blokes, you need that run and drive off the half back line, you need your backmen to be brave and take risks, but there are also times they need to be accountable. I'd urge anyone going to the game next week to note his direct opponent and watch the contests carefully.

They aren't competing for the same position.

True, but you wouldn't see them in the same backline because what Bizzell can do, Rivers can do much better.

Bizzell is essentially a loose man in defence. He is the third man up, which is fine, except Rivers can both shut down his direct opponent and help out his teammates. Plus, he has pace to break the lines.

In the absence of Rivers, our best defender by an absolute mile it is quite frightening, Bizzell's inclusion is logical. However, there are so many players who could play that loose defensive role. It is probably one of the easiest positions on the ground.... as long as you don't have to be accountable for a man. Bizzell struggles to be accountable, even on an ordinary player like Jones.

We just can't afford to play Ward, Bizzell and Brown all in the same back half. If the Kangaroos kicked straight today, the backline wouldn't be getting so much praise. Apart from Carroll and Bell who are solid and accountable, the rest were loose today. I'm still trying to figure out where the Grant vs. Green match-up came from?!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
