Tim certainly got grilled.

Thought he did pretty well, considering.   'Oh look that's a good question'  lol

Very clear we have no interest in Membrey. Houston not longer interested in us.

We are still some chance with the Derk

Houston would never of come even if interested still — #5 this year in Lalor or Smilie would’ve never been risked — only would’ve offered next year first I rkn!

Membrey for free seems a miss for me but I guess if we get Derk Diggler (coining it now) we have enough if they consider Petty a perm fwd, Turner we now know they def do!

personally liked way Lamb handled today ie no mind games and not afraid to say we never shopped him — a def msg in that for mine.

It's looking like a very quiet trade period for us.

Who’d of thought after all that hoopla — I’m glad, draft is huge that’s the focus and rest is covering holes one filled with Campbell & some delisted free agents I’d imagine their looking at on the cheap!

Do you think so? It was awkward and basically admitted that we can't attract players. How many times did he say, 'Oh look, that's a good question'. Half a dozen. We really do suck at comms and messaging.

Keep swallowing that narrative mate — it’s your prerogative! But our socials def need some work I’ll give you that

Sure is - mainly because nobody wants to come to us!

Head to the draft and start again next year I guess

When you say Nobody.. exactly whom did we go after that we didn’t get? Houston one was complex and were we finished meant a deal couldn’t be done — who else? Peatling had 12 clubs after him and went for home state team..

Just total bollocks — we’ve got a great record of getting our man, even Cerra came down to draft capital otherwise he’d of chosen us! Only planters that leave us are for opportunities and go home — if we stick to actionable facts this whole narrative is yet another media construct! Just sayin!

By the time we fix our fwd issues .. Gawn, Viney will be retired & trac & Oliver will be gone! Unbelievable sad.. we can’t attract a decent FA & Lamb confirmed we are not a destination club .. well done mfc after 3yrs winning a flag we have found a way to unravel

Another train wreck interview! Showed no confidence in saying we are a destination club and it’s a reflection on no  decent free agent deals! You would think after all the noise on Oliver & Trac they would be ready with answers to install confidence! We’re is Richardson & Pert to answer these questions!

You reckon he should have said we are a destination club?

We’d be a laughing stock if he said that. Clearly at the moment we are not

Who should we be trading in that won't be coming - or to put it another way, who should we be trading in that isn't going to cost an arm and a leg in terms of picks and salary?

Oh I’m not suggesting we had anyone in mind, but we aren’t going to change anybody’s mind at the moment.

Don’t kid yourself, though, we have plenty of cash if we needed it. We just aren’t in the right space to be a destination.

Houston is prime case in point. If he was really keen, we’d find a later pick than 5 to make it happen.

Thought Lamb was brilliant today. Answered everything superbly given the continued line of questioning. He didn't give them anything. Perfectly dealt with.

I believe he should have been prepped before the media interview. I agree he was on a hiding to nothing.

He gave them nothing, because anything he might’ve would have been turned around by them to attack us some how.

That’s my point ..who is responsible & what exactly is going on as it appears they are all disconnected..we’re is the leadership here to get all in one room and start singing from the same hymn book! There are some serious questions on pert & Richardson

so interesting that of all the trade targets / whispers re the dees, none of them are looking that likely:

- Houston - not getting done

- Derksen - unlikely

- Owies - limited interest

- Lord - hail mary but no

We have our back up ruck, but still need a KPF and midfield depth.

- KPF - Krueger seems a likely fit, Membrey still available

- Mid - Dev Roberston has not been spoken of other than West Coast

Spoke really well, even if it was all BS.

Lots to like about Lord but can’t see the Power letting him go unfortunately

You need the operators that can calm the waters. He did that, and snuffed out any potential news story.

The update…

Tom Campbell - delisted free agent … 32yo VFL ruckman. Signed up 4/10/24 🤔

Wade Derksen - 2 1/2 yrs with GWS. Zero games.  Nominated the Dees but GWS standing firm saying no trade 🤬

James Peatling from GWS to the Crows. Dees one of five interested clubs (missed out) 🥵

Dan Houston - originally planning a move to the Dees then all the dramas at MFC seemingly killed that move. Houston said committed to Port. Houston move then back in to Vic … Kangas, filthy Pies and arrogant Blues in the race (Dees to miss out) 🤮

Matt Owies - Dees originally linked but seems to have cooled. Media reporting his salary is high at >$600k. (We should pass on this) 👍🏻

Clayton Oliver potential move to Cats gets media filth bags all excited. Pert reportedly shopping Clarry around.  Tim Lamb says never was on the cards despite Clarrys farm visit!! (Relief)

All quiet on MFC showing any interest in Brandon Parfitt. 🤔🤔🤔

😭ANB returned home to Adelaide for pick “28”

I cannot come to terms with how we completely F'd up the Houston deal

Now Collingwood are frontrunners to have him makes me more sick

They get rid of Noble and land Perryman and Houston ffs

Perryman is a nothing player

If the Pies want to sell the farm for Dan they should, they have little young talent, Daicos x2 aside

If no Houston means we hit the draft harder than expected, he's saved us from ourselves

We didn't, our star player did.

Very true

Which is why he needs to have a MASSIVE 2025

Fully paid trip to the States

I’m quietly glad Houston passed on us.  Good player, but not worth Pick 5.

Missing out on Houston is a blessing in disguise. He may be a dual AA, but so was Grundy. Neither was/is what we need right now. We need to regenerate our list with quality youth, rather than topping up with a player who doesn't move the needle for us. If it was Butters or Rozee, then you'd do it.

Anyone who can kick moves the needle for us.

Houston's a current two-time AA. Grundy was a historical two-time AA.

The blessing in disguise isn't because Houston's not that good; he is.

It's because we would have been pressured/required to trade pick 6 to get him.

Carlton and Collingwood have picks outside the top 10, which are easier to trade away for a player like Houston.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
