Cumming could be a possibility - even better with Callaghan or Ash.

Huston has been found wanting for pace - better to go for Bergman.

Hobbs and Parish should be gettable. Maybe even Judith Durham?
Nobody wants to stay around the stench coming from that place.

WA players returning could be prioritised - they should know by now that the shocking surface at Opium Stadium is only going to damage their careers.

What are you smoking?

You could argue, a bit like West Coast in 2006, that sustained success was impossible given Collingwood's cultural problems. There were murmurs in 2022 (think De Goey), and now the other side of the 2023 flag, alleged cultural issues again.

N Daicos, Quaynor and Hill are the only three Collingwood players I'd be interested in...

I'd take Darcy Moore, at least he's knees will be on our team.

I wouldn’t mind the other Daicos.

People suggest IQ. Don't know, I don't really follow anything Collingwood related 🤣

What even is this X account though? Just some random made up rumours thing? Or any sort of track record?

Not sure to be honest, I saw it from a fellow Dees X account. That account quoted it. Could be nothing.

I 'called' this, too, after seeing his BOG effort in their 2022 GF win, noting he was a VIC (Shepp?) boy, too. But I also think there's been some critical reviewing of him on here since then?

Yes it is suspected to be Quaynor.

On the ruck situation:

Kalani White at this stage is a pipe dream and if we do manage to get him next year, it will take another 2-3 years of development to potentially be a senior ruckman. THat is 2028 best case, 2030 before he starts to have an impact. We cannot wait.

Is Verrall the answer for now? if not when? 2026? 2027?

Tim English is 26 years old is someone that will demand big coin to leave the kennell and we will again face the Gawn, Grundy dilemma - i doubt he would come. We need an understudy ruckman, not too good that would demand the #1 list spot, but somebody that is serviceable and can pinch hit for Gawn when he's injured or rested i.e anywhere between 5-8 games per year.

Gawn will go for at least 2025 to try and get 250 games notched up and chase a 7th or 8th AA.  Possibly even 2026 to beat Stynes record. I seriously doubt he would be playing beyond that, however his body does seem to recover well and if he did try and play in 2027, hed get close to 300 - assuming he plays every game and we have a few finals games in those years.

i think kalani will end up being a tall defender - think mac andrew style

Watched the Kangas vs Blues 2nd half.

LDU is exactly what we need. Wins his own ball, kicks well on both feet and grits his teeth and explodes from the contest.

I would give up a lot for him but I’m pretty sure he’s said recently that he wants to stay.

Hopefully not the style that finishes up at GC

Tom Morris reporting Tim English more likely to go than stay now, may make the search for a ruckman more difficult in the off season for the Dees considering Dogs will need one too

Dogs dont quite have the Dees problem, a much nice one indeed, the incumbent is holding back the future - we are trying to land the future

English to the dees would be a win for mine. Probably more exciting than some of the other prospects.

High profile trades like Langdon, et al added real quality to our list. Mor recent trade acquisitions seem to be bargain basement raids.

I like the idea of Houston in a Dees jumper (for the right price).

Is English a FA?

Yes, but he would likely go back to WA for squillions if he leaves.

I know it will draw a lot of ire, but Mason Cox could be an option to be a backup ruck/forward.                                                                                                                                                              Click here for vomit emoji

Reading through the Essendon bigfooty thread (schadenfreude does wonders for the soul) they are ready to blow the place up and start again.

Got me thinking we could do worse than get Peter Wright in as 2nd ruck/forward option for a year or two, couldn't be any worse than our current options.

Wouldn't mind Nick Hind either, has some real line breaking pace and seems to be on the outer (was sub against us, came on and made a bit of an impact then dropped to the VFL).

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
