When we were hungry in that last 10 mins it reminded me how we can play and how we played in 2021.

To me that is the bar. I barely see it. The first 2 quarters against the Swans was the same and that’s it.  Nobody can stop us when we play with that brutality. So where is it?

Our best is unbeatable, we just aren’t in that zone for long periods of time. That’s the most grit and grunt from Tracc I reckon I’ve seen from him and he should really try and channel that headspace every week.  We play our best when we play with ferocity but we don’t seem to click into that mode very often.

It just feels like a let down after our great performance last week.  The good news is we have 2 games we should win in the next 2 weeks.

Where is the technology improvement? Truck all has been done from AFL house Truck all!

Nothing has been learnt from the AFL since last years debacle.

Instead of investing a few million on ball chip technology and trial it in the AFLW over the past summer, they still have the HD camera technology to operate finger tip decisions.

It's 💩🏘 form from them.

Actually, Carlton won because of that Curnow goal that was clearly touched by Steven May. Putrid AFL and their "technology", the ARC is a disgrace 🤡🤡

Don't underestimate the Weagles, let's just dominate from the word go.

Gents/ladies - because it's not sustainable, nor physiologically and psychologically possible.

It's a marathon and there will be fluctuation between effort and form, quarter to quarter, week to week.

The undeniable naivety, or arrogance, or expectation of some supporters* does not at all marry up with the rigors of what the sport demands from it's players through training and competition for 8 months of the year- to put on 2 hours of entertainment for the masses each week.

They got 6 goals from centre clearance. There’s your game.

Mini has his work cut out for him because we’ve been garbage all year at clearance.

I just don’t think we cope well under intense pressure.

When the opposition decide they are going to tackle and smother us with high intensity we have no answer until they run out of gas from their efforts.

Brisbane did it to us and now Carlton.

So would I.

Rubbish, if Kozzie got a week Newman should too. Left the ground and collected ANB in the head with his elbow.

21 scoring shots to 11 after one minute into the 2nd quarter. That’s so disappointing to not be able to have someone stand up early.

We miss Gus. I know it sucks but we are clearly down a quality midfield rotation.

My sister and I were really hoping we'd push Rivers in there in the last, and bring Woey on at half back, and Billings to sub, but Bowser seemed to struggle on his return, which meant we needed Rivers' drive at half back and probably stopped that move.

There's some spirit in these boys.

At quarter time, I don't recall seeing Goody as animated as he was in the huddle. They clearly bloody needed it.

Thanks GC Dee.

I thought the 11 frees in the first was an utter disgrace.

An actual blight on the game.

Ok we played poorly but take away Mays touched ball the only one the video can't decide on and that cheating effort that got a free for dangerous tackle and we Won by two goals.

So the umpiring did cost us a game no matter how we played.

It's a absolute poor effort by the umpires tonight.

Maybe the Afls needs to ask questions about this one and how the blues lead the free kick differential by so much.

It really is disappointing to see a game ruined by such poor performances from them.

Dock their pay or check if they have betting accounts.

Honestly, give up on criticising the umpires. I thought they umpired poorly. Didn’t reward good tackles, very few in the back decisions, but I didn’t think the Blues had a particularly good run

Been waiting a while for this and will continue to. I think Riv could offer a lot in there with a turn of pace and just a different look.

Woewodin 9 touches, looked fantastic in the last.

Yep, I was wrong about Woey. He's going to make it. Really showing great improvement.

3 bad misses Fritta hit post set shot in 3rd, Petty 4th set shot and Kozi snap out on the full 10 meters out 45 degree angle.

Also Chandler 40 out on a slight angle normally nails them.

But we [censored] it in the 1st.

Im sure there were a couple more.

Enlightened me.

yes we lost it in the first.

when the umpires favour a side by awarding 11 free kicks to 3, the side given 11 believes they can do anything and get away with it. they have a confidence that allows them to convert maybes into certanties . they dominate.

the team not receiving the umpires protection doubts themselves and loses confidence. they struggle

That do?

Bravo to Goody tonight with swinging the magnets a bit.   Now then, don't be afraid to put Bowey or McVee or Riv in the guts one of these days if you want to hit a few more targets forward of centre.

It takes a lot to never give up when the chips are down. I'm proud of our boys, they were excellent.

We should have won, the umpires were horrible.

Are they waiting until Salem is back to experiment more here?

I like him a lot. I reckon he has paid his dues now.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
