Right now it’s looking highly likely that Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon will be in finals. That’s a very depressing thought, unless you’re the AFL.

Perfect timing for Richmond to bottom out now and get 2-3 years of early draft picks before Tassie come in.

In terms of list ages as of this year…

Pies are the oldest.

Geelong comes in second oldest.

Dees are third oldest.

Brisbane and Richmond equal fourth.

I'm not convinced by the bombers just yet.

They've won against Hawks, Saints (4points), Bulldogs, Adelaide (3points), West Coast (6points) and now GWS. They've also drawn with Collingwood but they're not the same team as last year, not yet at least. Apart from GWS it's far from a convincing form line.

I am not convinced nor do I want to be on Essendon but three of their next five games are against the Roos, Richmond and West Coast in Melbourne. It’s going to have to be some collapse to see them miss finals, which would be glorious to watch.

Agree - but their scheme of arrangement draw, as an understatement, is favorable.

Is David Roden the happiest goal umpire in the AFL ?

No - its probably Roman Polanski due to extradition treaties. But David runs a respectable second.

I don’t how the Saints are avoiding the blow torch. Pathetic effort

Another rebuild?

Id prefer Hawks list over theirs

A short history of the saints since 1896.

Millionaires, who had some success in fantasy footy comps, come in and run the joint. Except running an AFL club there are real consequences and less beer. The club drafts a hotshot player who once kicked 10 goals in a Frankston game. He fires in his first game against a team who hasn’t won since the flip phone era. The phrase "He’s our future" and "generational talent" is repeated so often it might as well be tattooed on the coaches forehead.

I get that we all hate Essendon but you have to give them a lot of credit for their win over a massive contender in GWS.

And they’ve kept us the top 4 which was nice of them.

peptides will trouble us as well - their game style disrupts the approach that the likes of us, gw$, the filth etc. all have in terms of executing ball movement

annoyingly, the scott twins are very good at that coaching caper

Geelong have been cleared of breaching AFL medical protocols, despite the Cats revealing on Saturday that key forward Jeremy Cameron had been diagnosed with delayed concussion from a heavy head knock on Friday night.

Cameron was allowed to play out Friday night’s clash against Port Adelaide after landing heavily during a marking contest and slamming his head into the GMHBA Stadium turf.

But the big Cat reported concussion symptoms during tests on Saturday morning and will miss next Thursday night’s clash against Gold Coast in Darwin.

Several commentators questioned why Cameron was not taken from the ground on Friday night after he landed on his side and banged his head on the ground in a whiplash motion at the nine-minute mark of a tense last quarter

He lay on his back after the fall, holding his head, before clambering to his feet to take part in the next stoppage.

Geelong medical staff spoke to Cameron on the ground, but the club said on Saturday that he had passed a head injury assessment.

Geelong said Cameron was allowed to play out the final nine minutes of the match, in which the Cats lost by a goal, because he did not report any symptoms and had satisfied all AFL requirements.

An AFL spokesperson said the league’s medical experts had discussed the incident with Geelong doctors on Saturday morning and were comfortable that Cameron had been managed within the league’s concussion guidelines.

The spokesperson said medical spotters in the ARC had alerted Geelong doctors to Cameron’s fall shortly after the incident, but in the absence of “probable motor incoordination or no protective action” immediate removal of the player for a sport concussion assessment test (SCAT6) was not mandated.

The heavy nature of Cameron’s fall on Friday night, prompted Seven commentator Brian Taylor to say during his call: “He gave his head a real good banging. I reckon the doctors will look at that.”

Fellow commentator Matthew Richardson then added: “As soon as you stay still on the ground for a couple of seconds, that’s a trigger.”

Seven boundary rider Abbey Holmes was shocked that Cameron was not taken to the boundary for tests.

“Jeremy Cameron is staying out on the ground,” Holmes said. “It didn’t look good, did it? With his head heavily making contact with the ground.”

The Geelong doctor barely even questioned Cameron.  Twice he was waived away and walked off.  Barely 15 seconds of discussion on field.  Cameron had to be withdrawn for HIA. His head hit the ground really hard.  I think the AFL has again shown little regard for their own AFL “strict” protocols. Last year Port was fined $100,000.   The Cats again have to be laughing at the AFL.

The Bulldogs are 11th but have outscored their opponents by 25% more than Essendon, who are 3rd.

From Footscray Bulldogs to Flatrack Bullies?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
