Does James Jordon ever make a mistake?

I get that he had a poor semi final as Brayshaw’s replacement, but he always seems to make the right decision and reliably hits targets.

The epitome of a good ordinary player, with the “good” being the operative word.

A smart and cheap pick up by Sydney.

This is how we got a double whammy with Brayshaw. People don’t realise the impact that one hit has had. If Brayshaw retired immediately then JJ stays. But he didn’t and we ended up losing 2 players.

The Hawthorn crowds must finally be dropping off as you can hear the fake bird noise on the tv broadcast which I always hear at our home games.

Can somebody please give WC a priority pick!

what a crock. won the flag 6 years ago and are now fine.

tanking doesn’t exist huh?

They ranked in 2010 to win the spoon. 2011 they won 16 games to finish in the top 4

No f*ing way they get a priority pick

I remember these 4pm or 4:40pm games.

Hope Goody is watching Grundy & Jordan

What if he is? They play elsewhere so don't matter. Us and future oppo is all that matters.

Has it ever happened that both granny teams have missed the final eight in September?

It must have happened. Does any one know when? Tx.

Should have persisted with Grundy & kept Jordan, sorry the words from our coach saying how much we value Grundy then isn’t played again was BS! Premiership window closing and should have won another flag yet recycled players Hunter & Billing’s enough said

Grundy was a wasted bet. Gawn excels as the main ruckman playing 80-90% in the ruck. He can’t play forward, which was the crux of the plan. Simirlaly for Grundy. We tried, it failed , move on.

JJ different story though. We didn’t expect Brayshaw to retire. If he retire prior to trade period, JJ would have been guaranteed more game time and money and would have stayed.

I honestly don’t believe it’s happened since 1980.

Maybe in the 70’s?

Pies will play finals this year.

It's amazing that some posters still aren't aware that Jordon was a free agent.

We wanted him to stay.  He chose to leave.

Can we call the Hawthorn rebuild a fail?

Hawthorn Roos here we come?

I think hawks fans just expected another epic rebuild a la clarkson lucking out with roughead  and franklin , jordan and rioli etc etc. Hope they’re down for a decade.

Mitchell’s plan was to bottom out before Tasmania comes in. Still got a few years left of high end draft picks. But as we know picks aren’t everything.

2023 Geelong missed the finals and Sydney finished 8th

1963 was the last time both GF's missed finals (final 4)

We wanted him to stay.  He chose to leave.

But that choice was probably dictated by senior opportunities.

I suspect if he knew Brayshaw was retiring he would have stayed.

He has played every game for the Swans so far this year.

Bedford was probably the same, left for senior opportunities.

Has played every game for the Giants this year.

Be that as it may, some posters still bemoan that we "let him go" or "didn't try to keep him".

we were top 4 last year, we're top 4 currently - it's not like we've hugely dropped as a result of jj and grundy (not) playing for us

in terms of grundy, jj, and bedford i would currently rather have jvr, windsor, and chandler in our starting 22

i know we have a very strong history that we 'don't leak' but generally when the media is (wildly) speculating as to what players are potentially on the move we are never discussed but both these guys seemed to be an exception last year

Agree. JJ would be getting more opportunities at the Dees now with the loss of Brayshaw as well as Harmes moving on.  We have to hope our key midfielders stay healthy as the midfield depth is very very thin.
