Maybe.

Agree on his skill set.

But if I was a dockers fan I'd be getting a touch worried about his professionalism, specifically his commitment to his conditioning.

Doesn't look elite fit and strong to my eyes.

Should be by now given he hasn't missed any big chunks out with injury and has had 4 AFL  preseasons.

Totally agree, he comes across as a giant child, think Keanu Reeves in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure 😂

and maybe that’s part of why he left, conscious or not he, preferred the comfort of Fremantle & not being at a contender

Detroit got 700k visitors for NFL draft week. No wonder the AFL salivate over how to hype it up.

I wonder why the NFL fans attend?

Watching grass grow or a long dental appointment spring to mind but obviously I'm missing something

i think it has lot to do with the success of the college system, plus their recruits are quite a bit older than here

college footy is huge. big crowds, lots of publicity and the supporters are hugely invested in the college stars.  compare that to here with our u18 competition. average fan has never heard of most of the recruits.

no point hyping it up too much here if you don't have a feeder system fans are invested with

I’ll tell you who is fit - Blake Acres. He almost single-handedly got Carlton up yesterday. His ability to still have bursts of speed very late in games is unbelievable.

I find it fascinating that 2 teams essentially watched him walk.

He has certainly improved in terms of kicking and execution since the latest move. The error in q2 where he made a poor decision and then executed poorly, kicking straight to a Geelong player for a goal, was the sort of stuff that was always the question mark over his game in previous years and would have been concerns for teams taking a look I'm sure. Speed, fitness are strengths.

From memory, he was also part of the Freo exodus when their cap was impacted by Jackson's move.

Their record could easily be worse than it is too - Brisbane, Richmond and Freo wins all coinflips and somewhat dubious. Agreed re their D, which definitely needs to lift if they want to go far.

Why are they doing the ANZAC ceremony before the hawks swans game? I thought they were only doing it at each ground once? Obviously they were always going to do it Wednesday & Thursday.

They didn't even do the NZ anthem. If you're going to do it, do it properly

Does James Jordon ever make a mistake?

I get that he had a poor semi final as Brayshaw’s replacement, but he always seems to make the right decision and reliably hits targets.

The epitome of a good ordinary player, with the “good” being the operative word.

A smart and cheap pick up by Sydney.

I say in most instances it is a genuine passion for club, its good to see, wasn't always the case. I reckon it played a part in the crazy run into September last year and this Blues side has developed a real esprit de corps in 2023 [repeatedly punches the CFC monogram on my polo shirt as I sip my chamomile tea 😁]

Passion for The Brown Paper Bag….

You can't deny the poos and wees effort. They're quite competitive, however they're disposal and finishing is just off compared to the Swan's and hence they're 7 goals down.

Hopefully they'll keep pushing to keep Sydney's percentage down a bit.

I see your point, but my comment about contenders not giving up 20 goals notwithstanding (which by the by was not meant to he taken literally- as in it never happens), I have the blues as a def contender.

I think there are four contenders  - dees, cats, giants and blues.

I'm not sold on the swans. And port will never be a contender until they sort their defensive system.

As someone noted, grand final winners are always in the top 6 for least scores against.

In fact I think I'm right in saying the last team to win the flag and not be top 4 for least points is north way back in 1999.

Port were 13th last season for least oppo scores. That ain't gonna cut it.

If the blues are still 10th for points against come finals then they ate nor winning the flag.

Based on their loss to the cats, the thing that would concern me about their defence if I was blues fan is the cats are playing a fast transition from the back half turnover game.

That method exposes defences because they can struggle to get back and/or set up their structures.

And the cats really hurt them on turnover as evidenced by their crazy good score to inside 50 ratio.

Similarly the giants opened them up on transition.

They may well sort that issue, particularly when they get McGovern, Marchbank and Saad back, but they will need to.

By the by, we are basically trying to implement a very similar method to the cats.

Both defences will be fully tested next Saturday night.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
