They SAY they don't, but lets not pretend like the MRO doesn't have distinct bias in play.

That may be true, but just explaining to people how the MRO is meant to work. They should be assessing each action on its merit and not taking into account prior history.

I'm a bit disappointed there are many on here that have the red n blue glasses on given what we've been through in this area.

Yes, Maynard was a bit worse and I was one of many here who wanted him gone for a long time. No two incidents are the same but this is a similar action - one difference Koz has led with the point of the elbow to the temple. He is lucky the player wasn't hurt more badly as there is potential for serious harm here whether it looks innocuous at regular speed or not.

Gus retired due to an accumulation of hits - most of them different to this, some self inflicted, but some were actually a bit like this.

We should know this lesson better than any and we should aim to be a better supporter base than what is being shown on here - he deserves at least a week and will get it.

If it was Maynard you'd be asking for four.

"Yes, Maynard was a bit worse". The understatement of the year.

Anybody know when the MRC decision will be released?

Haha, I'm sure we'll find out on their mIRC channel.

I have to say, I thought Adelaide in general were very fair last night. I was especially impressed with Walker who I expected would try and absolutely smash into May. He had plenty of opportunities but didn’t. Same with the rest of their forwards.
..

Yes, I too felt that their players were treating May fairly. Unlike those bloody comentators who complained that they weren't 'testing him out'.  Those blokes really believe in sportsmanship - not.

Ralphy from the HS pre-empting the MRC/O decision with Pickett, calling it (i.e. suspension)  a "slam dunk". The smug, high and mighty commentariat in full swing.

I found Goodwin's response and body language in last night's presser instructive when asked about this particular incident. Dees still fuming, I reckon, about last September. Double standards, conflicts of interest and inconsistency continue to abound in this industry.

Yeah the Michael Christian factor is still a disgrace. How he can objectively rule on 'Pendles' last week is so ridiculous. Even Pies supporters would've expected a week.

You had full panels on both fox and 7 that just can't swallow Melbourne, Leigh Montagna the only exception.

Brad Johnson's ongoing saltiness about us is amusing, but it pre-dates the '21 Flag, he tipped Freo to beat us in Round 1 of that year and tipped us to miss the 8 in the same breath. We went on to win first 9 and win the flag in the most dominant way since Geelong of '07.

These guys have massive blinkers on and the 'toffy' stereotype means that most of them don't want us to do well.

Will get a week for two reasons:
1) Optics
2) The new potential to cause injury clause

Objectively, I wouldn't out him, but it's borderline. Some of the angles don't look good, but the force was negligible. What really hurts Kozzie was that he temporarily went to ground.

Deserves a fine

knowing the AFL he’ll get 2 weeks

What’s all this nonsense on here about “he should get a week so Kozzy stamps this behavior out of his game”?

This isn’t comparable to his bump against Bailey Smith. This isn’t even him electing to bump. It’s him running parallel to a player, trying to smother a hand pass with a semi-jump (if it was a full jump his hip would have made contact with his head) in the same way every other player on the ground does multiple times a game.

If he gets a week then he’s unlucky, but enough with this hanging him out to dry business!

the only way he gets a week is if it comes down as medium contact, and i remain confident we'll try and get it downgraded to low, and a fine

just don't hire adrian anderson as our representative; he's a lovely chap, but i can't recall the last time he had a win at the tribunal

Anderson is not a lovely chap. He was responsible for initiating the tanking investigation. He is no friend of the MFC.

I thought Kozzie was the victim of a blatantly high tackle right in front of goal very early in the game.

Apparently I was hallucinating.

Certainly was. Took his F$&@ing head off!!

Play on 😡

So insignificant was his contact with the Adelaide player the commentators didn't even comment on it at the time

If Kos gets weeks when Pendles and Maynard got off - it’ll be more salt into the wounds from these AFL hypocrites!

facetious post didn't work when written down, perhaps...

Needs to get it out of his game as he is getting tarnished with a bad rep

Yep, you really don’t want to read the comments on AFL reddit. Thankfully nothing racist (AFL Reddit does a good job of policing this), but I had no idea how much of a “sniper” he is perceived to be by opposition supporters.

Yes we’re in the same thought process

In one of my earlier responses I mentioned Kozzy needing to say I did what I could to protect the opponent once I knew contact was imminent

Tried to win the footy

Identified contact was imminent

Protected myself and Soligo

No intent probably not careless

High

Low Impact

where does that fall on the scale

If not careless a fine.

Interestingly the crows player Soglio has come out strongly just now defending Kozzie.  " Nothing in it"  played on.

The Ch 7 commentators are substandard and no amount of criticism by us will change that sadly.

The addition of betting spruiker Daisy Thomas says it all. Hopeless.

Taylor- don't get me started.  Selwood has also drunk the Kool Aid already judging by his comments re: Kozzie.

No way will it be garded medium. Low for sure.

I loved Goodys repsonse in the presser .  he mentioned Kozzie was smothering - inferring it was a Maynard defence - and  although not one now was highlighting the irony of the situation.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round.
