Poor old Matthew Nicks sounded bereft in his presser and they're only four games into their season.

He may be starting to hear the sound of steel sliding over a whetstone from the Crows boardroom.

Lock us in for consecutive Adelaide games next year! Go Dees!

Two not so positive aspects. What's happened to JvR's marking? Hard hands tonight. Had the chance to mark four or five times 20 to 30 out. Bounced off his hands.

IMO he's exhausted from the rucking role by the time he competes in the air. He did mark and goal at a crucial moment and I thought his tap work was excellent. He's becoming a really handy ruck, which gets him into the game.

As his tank improves, his marking will improve.

And Billings. Not convinced he likes the heat of battle and kicking was abysmal.

Could have had a big night on the scoreboard, but his tackling and general contest game I felt was droppable. I think we'll see his best against Brisbane though.

Where’s Goody’s presser? Waiting up for it and fox never showed it.

They said it would be on 7Plus

I thought he was very poor and should've been subbed off for Taj during the 3rd quarter. I understand why they subbed Brown off but Billings was bad, he missed his chances but worse was his tackling, let multiple tackles slip which allowed the Crows to attack when they should've been held up or turned over.

He'll have Lachie Hunter breathing down his neck now that he is available again.

 Inexplicable umpiring at times!

No it was explicable.

Incompetent, simply umpiring to the crowd.

The rules went out the window and it was purely appease the crowd.

TBH that umpiring display was shameful.

Gather round, home side winless and being talked up by everyone from the Premier and Dillon down and packed crowd of Crows fans.

No surprises there.

Unlikely, they re-signed him preseason

Maxy was all for it post game! Don't know if his teammates would all agree 🤣

Mystery of the night for me.

Who is the chick who was in one of the world’s most iconic girl groups but nobody recognizes her?

My problem is that I don’t recognize her.

Michelle from Destiny's Child.

I think you're thinking of Divine.

If you check at the 1min 44 sec mark, that's Tex gazing into her eyes.

Has just had his contract extended until the end of 2026.

Same as last week

Why didn't they talk about or even replay the clear push on Rivers by Dawson?

I wondered the same thing as well. No replay at all. It was just such a blatant push in the back.

Two wins in a row interstate is a job well done. Take the 8 points and come home fellas.

The umpires stank.

I would love to see the insufficient intent free statistics at Adelaide Oval. It only ever gets paid one way!

I was at the game, thankfully sitting in a bay full of fellow Dee supporters. The noise and booing from the crowd was deafening. My Apple Watch was alarming constantly as the decibels were off the chart.

Steven May is my hero. What a gutsy performance. He was obviously in considerable discomfort but played his heart out. I thought Tommy Mac was great but don’t get me started on the umpires 🤬🤬

They totally got sucked in by the crowd and were so inconsistent with their decisions - absolutely appalling.

Well done team. My first game at the Adelaide Oval and I definitely don’t see what the fuss is about. The MCG is the true home of football.

All class from Fritta

That was deadset elite and you just knew as soon as he marked it, he'd kick it straight through the middle.

Take the 2 wins away in 5 days every time regardless of how, a few banged up players out there, specially Oliver and Brown not sure either should be playing next week unless they make a miracle recovery I’d be giving both an extra long break to get ready for the Anzac game.

Or he missed three very gettable goals which puts the pressure back on us. A 3-4 goal buffer instead of a 6-7 goal buffer.

What stood out most though is Melbourne pride themselves on contest and defence. Billings provides none of that. His kicking and ball use against Hawthorn was good. They gave him space. In tight contested games like Port and this one, he doesn't want to know about it which is very un-Melbourne like.

I'm not convinced. If he kicks those 3 goals he's a hero. I'll watch his defensive and contested efforts more closely from now on sparked by your comments. Lets see how he goes...

Thought Sparrow played a good game. Winning 50-50 contests and spent more time in the middle. With more games like that who needs enemies?

And the free kick count was kept under wraps.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

“Disco” took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
