NON-MFC: Round 04

Nth have had plenty of drubbings too. Their percentage has been woeful for years.

If you look at the past 4 years, it's worse than any 4 year period we had during Bailey or Neild years.

Nth:
2023 - 3 wins
2022 - 2 wins
2021 -4 wins
2020 - 3 wins*(out of 17 games)

Melbourne's three year bad patch of 2012,2013 and 2014 (where signs of recovery were obvious)  yielded 4, 2 and 4 wins.  2011 had 8 wins. 2015 had 7 wins. We won 5 games in 2008 and 2009.

They've had 4 very bad years in a row. If they have another bad year (as I stated in my post) without showing obvious signs of improvement they need help. I stand by that.

It’s too late now

Tassie will have first crack at all the Young Talent

North should have gone to The Gold Coast, but James Brayshaw said “no, i will save them..”

I have zero sympathy for this club

Port over 40 is the go tonight. Dons Missing their book ends in Ridley and Wright.

Port will be angry from the Demons loss and have 4 tall fwds that will destroy the bombers

They look to me a little like GWS early days. They’ve picked the best kids available over 3-4 drafts - but now have lots of mids and no structure to support it. It’s a risk, especially watching McKercher running around knowing he’ll be the first target for Tassie.

I've been thinking the same. FWIW I think they will improve this season. Their VFL team took a big leap last year and are undefeated this year (2/2).

Anyone listening to Dermie, Lynch and Dwayne Russell commentating the Brissy v North game? It's like listening to three old numpties chewing the fat by the fence in the local leagues. It has its charm, but probably is a little below the standard of seriousness required for national television.

Anyone watching the game able to shed light on the significance of the Lachie Neale and Zac Bailey injury as listed on the app? At work so haven't been able to watch.

Think the Neale one is more precautionary.

Take away the dribble talk and listen to Derm when he explains a play and what they should have done etc he is generally spot on with his comments.

I just switched over to tonight's game. Conversation went;

"Who's playing?"

"Ah, Port and Essendon."

"Is that that BT guy commentating again?"

"Hmm, yeah."

"Don't they have anyone else?"

Have you seen the standard of seriousness of Australia's national television lately?

Sometimes I think the networks are being run by a secret cabal of Netflix agents.

I don’t disagree, but draft picks are not the only way to rise up a ladder. They have good kids, but they don’t have leadership or bigger bodies. We went and got Vince and Lewis etc and those guys really helped to protect the younger players. We also had the likes of Jones.

Whatever picks they get they should be forced to trade for ready made mature bodies. They lost McKay who granted is a potato, and Goldstein, who is one day away from death, but those guys were big mature bodies. They need more of that, and some leadership.

They were trying to talk up nth. I suppose they have to find something positive, but at times it was a bit patronising

It was about as close as the one Marchbank claimed to have touched against us last year.

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
