C'mon man, he was kicking at 72% accuracy at goal last season... Give the kid a break. He is working harder now being the 2nd ruck.

Van Rooyen, not a ruckman, poor hands, Billings, not his type of game.

joeboy -Ā tripping night fantasticĀ some inspired triplets tonight. Some Milton would be proud of or are sword and sandal movies being revived in Rundleland?

eg.Ā
Gawn - an Herculean performance Ā so aptĀ
Chandler -Ā courageous and cleverĀ Ā bandages flapping in the breeze gives that ambulant epic look.

Viney-Ā blood and gutsĀ now that was an Epic!Ā

El Langdon watch; yes young Ed is very much on track covering post to post.

Just slightly perplexed by;

Hore -Ā limited but impressiveĀ Ā skills wise or ToG%? Definitely not lacking ticker.

Told ya about Jeffo. Had a rare off day with his accuracy but marked at will.

With JVR he is being made to ruck at 193 cms which is pretty hard for starters and then when he is forward, the ball is again being kicked high to a pack, hence his high flying miracle attempts.

When he is given some decent passes, combined with his accuracy at goal kicking, he will produce some very good performances.

Give the young kid some space. Ā When not required to do so much ruck work , like last year, he made some great leads, clunked some strong mark and kicked some super goals

He is going through a rough spot and needs support not Ā mockeryĀ

I am not mocking him. Just saying I think he is overrated.Ā

JVR will be a top shelfer. Some of you clowns were seeing the compensation pick as a win win if we lost Viney to geelong fo free agency in pre 2021. So I interpret what a number of you think about football as though I was picking up my dogs feaces off your front lawn to be honest when it comes to knowing our players.Ā Ā

Would be an interesting thread to dig up

He also provides defensive efforts. Last night he got a key contested mark with 2 minutes on the clock and Port just bombing into our 50. Those can be game winning one percenters.

See what I mean below. Case in Point. All re: Jack Viney staying or going in sep 20. He was always our same Jack.Ā  Some people orĀ  just thick. And on that premise I will not buy the JVR is over rated or no good.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.Ā As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.Ā

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
