Sometimes when Kozzy flies for a hanger, he's 1 v 2. At least on those occasions he prevents an easy opposition intercept mark.

I sincerely hope May isn't selected for this match. As a broken ribs victim I can assure fellow Demonlanders that you don't recover in a coupla weeks!!

If Chin is still injured, perhaps it gives AMW a chance to debut?

I've been reading the Crows bigfooty posts. Wow!! They rate their team and coach very poorly. Looks like Tex is pretty much shot ... either injured (back?) or just past it.

Not sure who comes in if Hore is injured. One thing for sure ... it won't be Tomlinson. We won't need another tall v Crows, and even if this were not the case, the FD seem to hate poor Tommo.

I reckon Tommo is a chance if Marty is out.  Otherwise why would they take him over?

Crows ended our 9-0 start back in 2021 when they weren't much chop and should never be underestimated.

McAdam was brought in as a replacement to injured Melky but the latter will fancy his chances of making it back first.

Those complaining about Kosi going for marks, need to understand that Kosi is an instinctive player. If you try to rob him of the freedom to be the unique player he is, you will ruin him. He is so special and does things very few are capable of. It’s what makes him so good.

He should be given license to go for goals and marks he believes are realistic, so long as he’s not burning teammates in the process. He does more than enough at ground level to fly for a few marks here and there.

1 v 1  near the goals or no one else in the vicinity vs 1 or more up the ground️

His job nearer the goals in a pack situation should be to stay down and crumb / goal or give it off for a goal, not fly from behind with the big boys.

Simple stuff that won't curb his flare one iota.

Riddle me this....Petty was moved fwd for the last quarter.

Thought he was good in defence but didn't really seem to have an impact up fwd.

However our fwd structure seemed much better after he went fwd.

Not sure if it was because it stretched Ports defence or a result of our mids just lifting and getting more i50s

Ideally I want him fwd.

It's good to know that we can cover May without Petty in Hore, Lever and Tmac.

The latter two were wonderful and I am genuinely surprised at Tmac's recent form.

Bbb as well.

We have gone from the view that anything from Tmac and Bbb is a bonus to them being prime players .

Credit to Oliver who played with one hand and played a blinder of a final quarter.

It's so exciting to have so many marking targets in Fritta, Petty, Jvr, Bbb and to a lesser extent Sparrow up fwd

Suggest you go back and watch the replay.

Petty went forward after half time and then was sent back again in final term where he played a very good quarter.

It was the first time under Goodwin that I have seen a player moved twice and just shows the value of having flexible players who can play at both ends.

Hard to believe that there are a few bloggers who think we have this game in bag. The Crows will be so fired up for us it ain’t funny. If we win this we are in great shape, but psychology this week is all in Adelaide’s favour, irregardless of how much better a side we are than them.

Hopefully we rest a couple of those with knocks given it is just a five-day break.

Hard to see Chandler playing and even though I agree with those who say May shouldn’t play, I am sure Goody will rush him back.

Billings spot also in question.

Hopefully Kolt plays but I reckon they will bring in Laurie for Chandler, May for Hore and Woey for Billings with Kolt possibly the sub.

And nice in theory that they also have this flexibility with TMac as well.

i can't see kolt debuting as a sub - goodwin, thankfully, seems to be one of the coaches opposed to that approach

Adelaide should NOT be underestimated this weekend. They are in a 'slump', but they are a good squad (even with a couple of injuries), and as a result will be even more fired up to chalk up a win - at home

In saying that, I think we need to look after our season. I know May is a tough nut etc, but he should recover properly over the next 2 weeks - and return for the Lions. Tommo would likely be his replacement, you'd think. I'm seeing Laurie's name again. Please. Please no Laurie. Yes I know he trains the house down and is chocablock full of potential - but I reckon we need to see sustained return in the 2s - Kolt in for Chandler if he does not play (seems most likely).

No other changes, Billings stays - he has been generally good. Unless we get a curve ball with Trac (eep). I don't see McAdam getting up, as we would be a natural in for Chandler.

You have a very short memory Billing’s 20 possessions and good form vs Fogs and Hawks plus good disposal. No won’t be dropped.

May and Woey in for Hore and Chin. Marty will get his opportunities. Not sure Bill will, especially when/if McAdam gets fit.

I was convinced that night and still am that we only lost that game by a miserable 2 points because it fell on my 40th birthday! 🤮

It was a great day otherwise and a fun game to watch until the closing moments! 🥳😖

This.

I think it's safe to assume that most of time koz flys for a low chance mark inside 50 it is under instruction.

Play tall and bring the ball to ground.

Anyone else worried with how LVR has started?

Hasn't been able to clunk any marks this season and has only the 5 snags from 4 games

Averaging 8 disposals and 3 marks per game

JVR is providing Max with a good chop out. Not too concerned about young Roo. Key position players take longer. His numbers are tracking well compared to similar players at the same age. Heard others on here roll out those stats but don't have them on hand.

No concern from me. JVR's effort has been stellar in the air and on the ground and providing good cover for Max.
Marks and goals will come.

Unless there are any injuries (Chandler?), I wouldn't make a change in the forward line. I think it's pointless looking at individual stats when the team stat - scoreboard - has us kicking around 100 pts for the last 3 wks in a row. The front 6 are working cohesively, crumbing/applying pressure when the ball hits the ground, and covering some significant territory defensively when needed.

IMV, we conceded a high score defensively last week in part due to a volume of quick supply from centre clearance which will always put pressure on a defensive unit ahead of the troops arriving to support. Unless Marty Hore's ribs are significantly more sore than May's, I'd be happy with the same back 6 on Thursday and give May another week to heal.

I think Billings is too good to drop, but like the idea of swapping him and Woey as sub to keep Woey match fit. Billings too classy to keep out of the team altogether and a good profile for the sub role.

I love what JVR is doing, he's giving Max a chopout and taking a lot of attention because he is dangerous, and other players like BBB can get marks and score.  I think he's doing great!

I want to see the Kolt come in for Chandler...GET HIM IN THERE!  (or McAdam if he's fit of course)

If we did decide to go the path of including Fullerton, who would make way for him?

I think they will probably stick with Jvr rucking. His tap work isn't the rest but he's ok at ground level follow up.

Yep Billings had a poor one but he will not be dropped. I'm sure of it.

The five day break at this time of the year with an early start to the season really irks me. Besides all our injuries, we have played in a lot of hot weather including the one against Port. This game will be a tough one.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
