i've always found it strange that they adopted that inxs song - i know it was about the split forced on them between afl and sanfl versions of 'port adelaide', but it's played out now with the teams being together for a long time now

once the port maggies leave the sanfl for the vfl / national reserves competition in the coming years, it really won't be applicable at all anymore

Adopting that song was probably kochies decision  because he loves inxs.

But max was on radio last week & said he loves it when the crowd does that because it pumps him up to

The AFL average is 88 points. We are top on both ends of the spectrum.

We are +70 points at scores from stoppages #1 Rank.

Thought it was a good stat in theory but once again like “pressure rating” the metrics behind the points aren’t explained by the statisticians where needed.  Using “points” as a metric in a game where some metrics use literal points scored is deceptive.

Apologies if this has already been discussed at length, I haven't had a chance to read through this thread, but I just saw Rivers got a fine for a sling tackle.  Am I the only one (apart from Tom McDonald) who thought Rozee threw himself on the deck trying to milk the free?

Great post would read again. Am I seriously not allowed to have some discussion about a game our coach and captain both admitted we generally wouldn't win based on all key stats?

Honestly, what is a footy forum for? Just sitting around with the happy clappers until someone posts things that gets taken down for legal reasons?

Not looking for perfection, it was a heck of a win, just looking at the way that probably more than 50% of the game was on Port's terms/in their style and how we got the game played more to our strengths.

Of course you are. Most agree with the general proposition that we struggled in various aspects of the game.

It’s just that there was nothing in your original post to explain why you said it was a “fantastic win”. Which made it feel like you dropped it in for the sake of it, in a post which otherwise read like we’d hardly impressed against an average side.

After re-watching the game, basically all of the frees we got in the first qtr were absolutely legitimate. None of them were even 50/50.

Nice one.

We seemed to run faster and more in the last q.

I wonder if our matches mostly in hot conditions helped us.

It is literal points I assume.

That's to say we average 125 points per 100 clearnces, so 1.25 points per clearance.

You are not alone. Thought Rivers tackle was basically around the waist. Rozee is a cunning customer. Along with the natural momentum felt he added to the result and eventual free kick awarded to him. Think Tommy Mac said a few words to him.

Well done on the huge flag waving effort during the faux INXS power pre game anthem too.

Aah, so it was noticed. Nice. We hadn’t planned on doing that, it just happened. Thanks for pointing it out👍🏽

Joey likes the Dees, I reckon. Regularly has positive things to say.

He also said he reckons most other clubs would envy our culture. He’s about the only one who’s backed us this whole time, so you know he’s not just jumping onboard now that things are on the up.

You must like vinegar wine: to make good wine, you need good grapes: Port tears come from a part of their anatomy called a word starting with b and ending with m.

Squiggle has us now finishing on top of the ladder and winning the GF against GWS!

Go Dees

Can't sleep WCW ?

No and I didn’t even bother trying to sleep. Didn’t get home until 10pm last night, talked to Mrs Fritta for an hour about the match, and there was no way I wasn’t gonna watch the replay. Then I was so pumped after watching that I couldn’t sleep so I watched the second half of the GF. Similar vibes.

Nah that’s Shazza Nibbla. She sat with us for the game and it was so cool to see her reaction to her boy playing arguably his best ever. Nibs hugged her, Chin hugged her, but the Clarrie hug was extra special because she’s close to Michelle Oliver and she knows in detail the pain his family has been through with those vultures in the media. Mrs Fritta didn’t attend the match last night.

Thx WC.

That banner was outstanding for Vins and the noise / chants made by the D.A. & others in attendance was superb.

Congrats to all there and hope you're enjoying your stay over there.

Found a decent coffee yet?

Yes, I found a great coffee… in Melbourne when I got home yesterday 😝

Happy to be back in our beautiful  city. Going back to Adelaide on Thursday morning. Crows fans will seem like sweet little old ladies compared to those base Port cretins.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
