Did you block 2022 out?

Kozzie deep forward when not played through the middle please Goody.

I’ll think you’ll find, per my source Kane Corn, that Kossie is in actually fact a port Adelaide player. They pinched him from us last year

I’m very nervous about tonight. Not confident about a win 😳🫣🫣😳

I'm very confident we will split the pear into pieces and we will tear them apart. Melbourne by 24 points. Our Midfield too strong

Not to worry.

He's so fast he can do both at the same time.

Seriously though, it's a tough call where to play him. He's doing really well up the ground but he's impacting the scoreboard big time when up fwd.

With the inclusion of some new talls up fwd who know what they are doing, our smalls are firing big time.

I hope Chandler keeps progressing.

I think this year will be a huge one for Kozzie.

The Manorial staff all have rather fetching red and blue Bunny outfits for tonight's celebratory after party.

Check the chocolate eggs before eating, you might end up with more than egg on your face

Prime time game, match of the round, media heckling, players standing up.

Being the underdog could gives us the boost, as we go in without entitlement.

Tackle and pressure, be clean, and run run run.

Hoping for a standout game from JVR.

Go Dees!

Take the crowd out of the game early and watch port start to wilt.

Get off to a flyer Dees.

Without May:

2021 - we beat Hawthorn and Adelaide both at the G but they were bottom 6 sides.

2022 - Lost to Sydney and Collingwood both at the G who were top shelf sides that year.

2023 - beat Dogs at the MCG but lost to Brisbane at the GABBA in the first two rounds.

It’s arguably not good.

In the Brisbane Game last year, Maxie went down in the 1st Quarter and we were totally demoralised.

In 2022 we were in a mini-slump after winning the first 10 games of the year. We'd just had a bad loss to Fremantle with May in the side. In losses to Fremantle, Sydney & Collingwood Melbourne started all games well but were totally overrun in the 2nd half, particularly the last quarter. Loading?

Clearly we're a worse team with May out of the side, but there were other extenuating circumstances in all these games. Going back further than 2020 is fairly pointless because as we weren't a top team (apart from 2018).

Our king pin is out though.  Injury cloud over Claz.

I'm thinking coin flip.

May still doesn't get enough cudos from some in the media imv.

You would think there's only one AA key defender at the top according to main stream, Tom Stewart, who is more of a plus one intercept player coming off his man a la Lever.

May went down in the first quarter of the Freo match and did not return.

We also lost to Sydney without him.

While probably not the sole reason for both losses, in the main i would argue it's no coincidence that the winning streak ended with Freo and then Sydney without May down back.

Similar replacement needed pronto to cover for games like this week.

Win one of the next 2 and we can walk away from Adelaide with some confidence intact. Tonite will be hard.

Well done to everyone going to the game tonight. Pretty ground to watch the game as is the walk over the bridge to the ground. Wish I was there with you, putting those feral Port fans out of their misery when we pump them.

Yep we need a strong start. A close game at the death will see us get ripped off by the weak willed umpires succumbing to the feral fans. Happens to most close games in Adelaide. A fast start by us will shut them up.

There's been a lot of talk about how having May out of the side is going to impact our defence. Clearly the selectors are happy with how the defence performed in the latter stages of the Hawthorn game as they haven't brought Tomlinson in (makes sense to me: Tomlinson is excellent one-on-one but team defence isn't his strong point).

It will be interesting to see how Port defend tonight, because they haven't their first 2 games. Their approach seems to be to rely on outscoring the opposition. Defence 47 scores from 92 Inside 50s (51%), against West Coast & Richmond!! Melbourne Defence 58 scores from 160 Inside 50s (36%), and that includes the Sydney game where we lost, being overrun in the last quarter in horrible humid conditions which didn't suit our intercept defence (26 scores from 65 Sydney entries - 40%).

Port have an excellent midfield but doesn't run as deep as Melbourne's. They will probably bring one more to the stoppages with Melbourne an extra in defence. If Melbourne defend well we'll win because I can't see Port stopping our forward line if we use the ball like we have the past 2 weeks.

We've beaten two not outstanding sides and so have Port (Tiges and Eagles) so we'll learn something tonight.

In my experience Port fans are pig ignorant but not aggressive (however they were flogging us at the time), whereas whatever happens there will be some niggle from Crow followers. (I won't call them supporters since they are too fickle for that).

This perception is at odds with mine. Tommo is in my experience usually out-bodied in one-on-one contests. A monster like Dixon for example, would have a field day with him. Tommo is strictly third defender material, especially since his knee injury.

I reckon the Dogs are a class above Richmond, West Coast and Hawthorn.
